Opinions from the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Body
Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
I will omit the delights of flowers, BB, dd, increased resolution, etc. Much has been said - everything is fine. I will go through other things in order as I get impressions. 1. Range of workers ISO. In the case of a reportage, you can safely set the auto ISO up to 12600 - if your photos go to web publications, or to print up to A3 - shoot in a jpeg on auto ISO, and the "image style" will give all the necessary corrections. 2. Touchscreen display. You don't always remember about this bonus. After the forced weaning of joysticks and wheel, and getting used to using your fingers, menu travel time and quick settings have sped up a billion times. 3. Lifeview. Previously, for taking photos, this was not a required option. The camera now detects faces and keeps the eyes in focus. And it does it better than its own scope.Doing bottom pickups, shooting with outstretched arms, etc. - no problem. On what you fixed the focus with a poke of your finger on the screen, there it will be, while you decide on framing, pull your hand at a concert or just wait for the right moment. Autofocus is flawless. 4. Ability to control the camera from a smartphone. If you shoot levitations, scene panoramas and other goodies for complex post-production - you no longer need an assistant, a remote control and a laptop. The camera is on a tripod, you put the model in the location with your smartphone and immediately see what happens in the viewfinder, fully controlling the camera. If you will be editing the work in one direction of shooting, the camera can be surrounded by tape and not approached at all, which minimizes frame shifts and simplifies editing. 5. View camera files via smartphone and transfer instantly. Rescue for quick posting or sending photos to people right on the spot (street photo). 6. Autofocus. Collective farm test - 5 dm4 manages to catch on contrasts in the bath with the lights off on a glass of toothbrushes under the light from a small LED on the outlet, when these brushes are not very visible with your eyes, and does not smear. No comment. Glitter 7.30 Megapixels
Disadvantages:
1. Eats a battery like 100 elephants. (After the purchase and full charge, I did not notice how the first division disappeared after 85 frames in the jpeg and the camera settings for myself in the menu), over the next 2 weeks the battery swayed, but still lives incomparably little and will blow any grandfather from the canon. (LP-E6N is said to have no memory and is all perfect) But it really sways during use. He leaked the first charge without removing even 500 frames. Now (2 months later) lives 750-900, depending on the frequency of switching on the live view and rape the screen in general. After a month of use, I took a second battery, which is boundlessly happy. 2. HISNET 1) every 3-5 times if he falls asleep in the live view mode. When waking up, it refuses to respond to any manipulations, on / off does not save - t. To. the camera did not cover the mirror after the live view. It is treated by removing the battery for a few seconds. 2) 2-3 times per thousand refuses to shoot by pressing the shutter button and hangs. It is treated by opening / closing the battery cover without waiting for a reset. It all pushes up pretty much (software 1.0.4) I'm waiting for fixes. If the problem persists with the new firmware, I will hand over the camera under warranty. 3. Price. The difference from the still actual 5 dm3 is in a heap of little things and half a dozen new buns. Yes, the camera has become better, but decide for yourself whether you need to overpay, because the number of improvements is not proportional to the increase in price. Although for some, these improvements are necessary for filming.
Comment:
This is an improved all over the place trio with touch controls. All the same universal device, but updated to modern trends. getting it into a completely new cell is difficult. There are no mega-breakthroughs here (are they needed?). We improved absolutely everything, but a little bit. The transition from 5 dm3 is justified if you are not a burden for money. If this is a lot of money for you, you should not spend money, and even more so take a loan. And, well, some controversial improvements: Dual pixel (like a toy with depth of field and boke) is a cool thing in the project, and it can be in demand if the adob developers put a separate panel in the lightroom and fsh for adjusting it. Native software kenon seemed to be chopped with an ax, and optimized with it. And doubling the weight of the files generally reduces the regret to enable this function. Wi-fi - Like a hook on a smartphone - chic, but not as a way to transfer files "on the go" After the first attempt to fully pour online report to the editorial office without stopping filming, you will abandon this disastrous undertaking. For home there is usb 3.0, and for insta wi-fi \ NFC and a smartphone. Is this a good camera? Yes, absolutely. Better than 5dm3? Yes, absolutely. 2 months, nervous flight due to freezes. I will write another comment after breakthroughs, discoveries or disappointments, somewhere in a year. In the meantime, at least I'm waiting for a new firmware.

Advantages:
I will write a review in comparison with 5D III, I hope it will be useful for those who are thinking of changing III to IV. So, useful features: 1. Live View mode. The camera focuses in this mode almost better than through the viewfinder: exactly, instantly. The function has definitely added convenience in shooting from the arm outstretched "blind" when you can't look through the viewfinder. In all my previous cameras, the Live View mode was conditionally working in unhurried filming and absolutely not working in conditions of tough reporting. Now you can shoot "on the screen" almost everything. 2. Exposure compensation function in autoISO mode. For those who, like me, often shoot with this setting, it was extremely inconvenient that in the semi-automatic mode there was no opportunity to make a correction. 3. Smart auto white balance mode. The camera has two auto bb modes: "preserving the atmosphere of the scene" and with "white priority". If you need a picture close to the colors of the scene, set the first mode. If you need the most natural colors - the second. Let me explain that in auto bb mode with white priority, the picture always looks like it was taken in daylight. Even if it is a room with yellow light from incandescent lamps. 4. Touchscreen display. This helps a lot to work quickly in Live View mode: I poked at the screen on the area where focus is needed, the camera immediately focuses on it - it's convenient. Otherwise, this feature is a nice bonus, nothing more. Personally, out of habit, I do almost everything with joysticks and a button on the camera body. 5. Feels like after 5D mark III the shutter became quieter if you shoot at conferences or in the theater - appreciate it. 6. In my opinion, ISO 12800 is absolutely working, but it's worth noting that I shoot reports, mainly for the web, so most of my shots are in MRAW. And accordingly, in full RAW, there will be more noise. For understanding, on mark III I considered the working ISO to be no higher than 6400. 7. Canon colors. 8. All other goodies wifi, GPS, dual pixel, 30MP. It's nice that all this is in the camera, but I haven't had time to use these features yet.
Disadvantages:
For me, as someone who uses IV only for photos, the camera has no obvious disadvantages. Those who plan to shoot video on it - you need to read the reviews of people who understand this and can describe all the shortcomings of this camera for shooting video.
Comment:
Before mark IV there was mark III (now both cameras), before that 6D, and even earlier Nikon D3s and Nikon D700. After switching from III to IV, already on the first shoot it became clear that the camera became noticeably more convenient. III was good, this one is even better. Autofocus is faster and more tenacious, DD is wider and stretches better, ISO working is higher, exposure metering is more accurate, Auto WB works better. In my opinion, if you shoot in difficult conditions, this camera will make your job easier. If you work in simple conditions for the camera and III suits everyone, there is no point in changing.

Advantages:
Burst shooting speed, 30 megapixels, relatively high working iso, dual pixel autofocus, touch screen.
Disadvantages:
Increased battery power.
Comment:
I shoot for a week, compare it with 3 dimes. I must say right away: I am an amateur photographer, so do not judge strictly. Before that, I shot for the 3rd nickel for 2 years. I mainly shoot portraits on the street and in the studio, sometimes indoors. I was completely satisfied with 3 dimes, I wanted more resolution from this camera (so that the detailing of the face in a breast portrait would be equal to the "front" one at 3 dimes), large Iso workers (sometimes I shoot in the evening without external light). I got both: now iso 3200 is absolutely working, 6400 is conditionally working, at 6400 there is almost no noise, only if you look hard. The resolution has increased the detail. I would not say that this is heaven and earth, but the difference is obvious. This is especially noticeable at a crop of 100 You can immediately see every pore of the skin, I like it. I shoot with adjusted optics. By and large, the improvements are not huge. I think people for whom the camera is a working tool will not pay a round sum for innovations, tk. the client may not notice the difference. Purchase carefully, wisely.

Advantages:
- Colour! - Accurate AWB - Very accurate and fast autofocus via both VI and Dual Pixel AF - AF sensitivity via VI -3EV, in Live View mode -4EV - touch screen and controls - Adequate 30MP resolution for most tasks - good camera performance in highlights - versatility / versatility of the camera - two slots for memory cards - ease of processing RAW files and getting the finished result - convenient grip - WiFi / GPS
Disadvantages:
- eats a battery like a camel - still does not take off for you
Comment:
On paper, it seems that there are not many differences from the 5D3. But after two months of use, you realize that this is a completely different device and there are plenty of changes in it. I will only go through the ones I demanded in staged shooting. The white balance has ceased to slip into magenta in natural light, as it was on the previous dimes. In general, the metering module has become more advanced. It tends to slide more into the warm spectrum, which in most cases is good for the picture. Perhaps some should set the WB shift in the Blue-Magenta camera to +1. Exposure metering works quite accurately, it is more prone to slight overexposure in bright sun and perfectly works out to zero in even light. And, of course, the color. He still embellishes the skin beautifully, while remaining within the usual Keno scheme. But I still want to note that he has become better. This wow effect was only with 1Ds3, and now with 5D4. The color is very pretty and very time-saving. I give the photos to the models immediately after shooting in jpeg from the camera. Autofocus, although it looks similar, has also undergone some changes. The area of coverage by frame points has increased slightly. Special thanks to Kenon for the new Dual Pixel AF technology coupled with a touchscreen. This is what I personally lacked for staged shooting earlier. Moreover, it is now convenient to operate and the focus is instantly caught by touching the screen. So he became very accurate with the ability to track faces. An incredibly handy feature. Videographers are crying bitter tears that 4K video capabilities are mediocre. I do not presume to judge them, for me it is primarily a camera. After two months of use, the camera feels well thought out for any genre of photography. The 5D4 is practically devoid of the shortcomings of previous models. But it has a bunch of improvements and cool color that greatly simplify the work of the photographer.
June 24, 2017, Krasnoyarsk
Advantages:
Shutter sound, Screen, button remapping, Dynamic range, EOS iTR AF (I fantasized about it in my youth :) - it happened), Time-lapse shooting (shooting buds, for example), New AF area selection button, Camera operation from 220v, Video quality, Electronic level along the axes, USB 3.0, Enhanced dust and moisture protection, The ability to shoot video in MP4 (immediately merge to smart), Photo cropping after shooting, New settings system for AF
Disadvantages:
It is necessary to clearly distinguish between disadvantages and personal preferences. In shortcomings, you can write what is declared by the manufacturer, but does not suit the user in terms of quality. No, there are no such shortcomings. For example, there is a review here, does not support UHS-II cards, well, ok, does it support UHS-I? Supports great? - Yes. Everything declared by the manufacturer works for 5.
Comment:
As I wrote, this camera is bought either by those who love new items, or by those who clearly understand what they lack in their carcass. Reviews where people start comparing competitors are surprising. You either just write, and did not use the camera, or did not understand what you were buying. This is a reliable, professional camera capable of going high in the mountains, in rain, snow, and frost. For this I love Canon - it is a guarantee and predictability in work. Read the comments on the reviews, there is more useful than the reviews themselves.Personally, I switched from 5dM2 and honestly, if you are not professionally engaged, feel free to stay at 5dM2. You need to understand exactly what you are missing in your carcass. Reliability in the rain? GPS? Focus on the face through the viewfinder? (EOS iTR AF - there is a function in 7dM2, 6dM2) or something else? Decide and download the PDF instruction manual - read it. Why write something negative if you haven't studied the camera first? I don't have any freezes, I haven't changed the firmware yet, it costs 1.0.3 Before that there was still a 70d camera, from which it is customary to see functions-RAW processing inside the camera, wi-fi, a touch screen and others.

Advantages:
Rate of fire, autofocus, touchscreen, video shooting parameters, audio output (compared with 6D), ergonomics.
Disadvantages:
Not yet revealed.
Comment:
I have been looking closely at the full-format camera market for a very long time. I chose between all modern counterparts (Sony, Nikon, Kenon). On the hands were 6D and 5dm2 of their own. Sony froze in the cold in January + unreasonably high price for the flagship FF. Nikon 750d - I didn't really notice the difference between 6d and him. The 810 did not have enough time and energy before the start of the season (in terms of parameters, it loses to this camera in the parameters of video shooting). When I rented a 5dm4, I was struck by its indescribable color rendition and autofocus. Compatibility with the entire slide of batteries after 5dm2 and 6d is especially pleasing. Fits well in the hand. Camera settings management has reached a new level. Watching the footage by rewinding it like on an iPhone is a separate happiness. I bought it a week ago. I shot a video, a photo session in the studio and on the street - the impressions are extremely positive. Ahead is the climbing season 4 hikes of special difficulty in different conditions (mainly rain, snow, and other delights). I will add a review in November.
May 30, 2017, Moscow
Advantages:
LifeView of a new generation - on open holes it works on the face (eye contact), more precisely than through the viewfinder. Ravs stretch well from lack of light.
Disadvantages:
If you shoot outdoors in the daytime in the aperture priority mode with exposure settings of 0 (default), then the lights will practically not be drawn at all, the automation almost completely knocks out the sky, which cannot be saved during development. Also, a whole stop of lights is in the dual pixel, in another channel, and it cannot be reached by standard means. Apparently this is some kind of jamb of the manufacturer. We are waiting for ACR to understand DPraw. Approximately 15-20% of carcasses in Russia have a small defect (carcasses hang until the battery is removed and it will not work). I personally know about 10 people with such a problem, the problem is floating, but it takes place. So far I have had one freeze for ~ 15K run. Requirements for optics have greatly increased, all top optics developed before 2012 do not allow the camera matrix ON OPEN HOLES (F1.2-1.4).
Comment:
If you shoot with aperture priority on a clear day, make the correction by minus ~ 1 stop! If you shoot in a reduced size M-RAW, keep in mind that this is a software compression of a full-fledged RAW in a carcass, therefore, quality losses are inevitable, this is noticeable if the conditions are difficult and you are pulling the file. If you like holes 1.2-1.6, get ready to change optics. Well, for the purchase of memory cards of large volumes) Tips: take cards from 95Mb \ s for 4K. Optics to buy: 24-70II, 35 \ 1.4II, 85 1.4L IS, 70-200II and all new glasses .... Sigma 85 and 135mm (not bad, but shift focus happens) Tamrons 45mm (not bad, but chromaticity and speed .. ) Also from the old ones they behave well on 5d4: 135 2.0, 100mm 2.8 L IS. In general, the camera turned out to be good, but the nuances with lights and floating freezes upset. We are waiting for firmware 1.0.5 ... maybe many nuances will be corrected in it.
10 October 2017, Moscow
Advantages:
1) Good DD 2) Lightning fast and very tenacious AF in photo and video mode 3) Working ISO 3200 4) Touchscreen (really convenient) 5) Added a lot of information + level to the viewfinder - insanely convenient! 6) 4K quality under 500 Mbps 7) WiFi
Disadvantages:
There is no stub, but it’s not important with such a park of optics with a stub
Comment:
I am not a videographer, but with the advent of this camera, there was a desire to do video shooting at the same time. Apparently this is what spurred the tracking autofocus. It is very tenacious, in the coupe the touch screen is very convenient (choosing the focus points on the screen). Video in 4K mode is flawless - ringing, at bitrates up to 500 Mbps - you can make video clips of unimaginable quality and detail! About the battery. On one charge, I took photographs - about 300-400 frames and after a couple of days I recorded a video for 1 hour in FULL HD with tracking focus. The charge showed one division. This is certainly not a 6D record holder, but the result is quite impressive. Quite possibly it would have been enough for one more photo session) But in any case, I have a spare battery, which I really rarely used ... Summing up, I want to say only one thing - Canon made a great device - what was so necessary! Opened new horizons of creativity (I'm talking about video :))
24 February 2017, Moscow
Advantages:
1) Lightning-fast dual pxl autofocus 2) 30 mg pixel matrix 3) Fast-working touch screen, really fast like the iphone 4) Familiar interface, ergonomics 5) Tracking autofocus at altitude
Disadvantages:
The battery is now enough for a shorter time, the cut-down 4k, but in my case this did not affect the choice.
Comment:
The camera turned out to be a worthy continuation of the legendary penny. I have been using this series since the 2nd brand, then it was 3 and now it is 4. I am completely satisfied with the purchase, if only I could add a dynamic range in the highlights and there would be no price. Photos from it can be seen here www.artsamigullin.com
January 17, 2017, Moscow
Advantages:
For me personally: 1. Perfect autofocus for video. 2. Video quality! Added 4K video. 3. The touch screen (display), the speed of its operation, the clarity of the screen. 4. Two slots for memory cards. 5. Accurate exposure control (compared to past models), and cool color. 6. Quiet shutter mode (this is a song). 7. Range of working ISO. 8. 61 focus points, and focus control areas. 9. Programmable control buttons.
Disadvantages:
1. Noise at ISO 3200 compared to 2012 Nikon D4 - great. 2. In quiet mode, the battery eats up - but it can't be otherwise ... 3. There is no way to take a photo in video mode. 4. Fixed screen. 5. The price bites ...
Comment:
I took photos and videos for shooting in September 2017. Before that I was and is 5D M2. The difference is of course very big! I'm still not overjoyed. I was amazed by the autofocus for video - quickly, clearly, and in my opinion, it works with some kind of "logical" thinking. I like all the other changes too! I have never regretted buying! Software version: 1.0.4. There were no freezes. I definitely recommend the camera! Canon has finally created a camera you can actually buy!
