The fact is that bread for sandwiches, hot dogs and burgers is looser and fluffier and allows you to make a filling that is acceptable in thickness and a set of ingredients, shrinking. If you take ordinary bread, put the filling in it, and then squeeze it in a sandwich maker - 90% of what will first leak out and burn out the filling, and then, if you persist, either the latch or one of the handles will crack, because ordinary bread is dense , more moist and does not shrink. We even used thin crispbreads in our cooking - with excellent results! Breads during cooking absorb moisture from other products, swell a little and fulfill their role as a "gingerbread" for a sandwich. For a juicier crispness, you can lightly grease the toast with butter.
