Opinions from the Nikon Speedlight SB-700
Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
Case quality and ergonomics. Master function. Size (compared to SB 900). High-quality and rather rich equipment (diffuser, two light filters, leg, storage bag)
Disadvantages:
Not as powerful as SB 900
Comment:
I used SB900 and short time SB600. As I already wrote, the flash package is pleasantly surprised. Quality storage bag, two filters, diffuser and leg. Plastic filters are not films as in the bundle with the SB900 and it is much more convenient to use them than film filters. The SB700 has all the capabilities of its older sister (SB900), which is CLS, Highspeedsync, Advanced Wireless Lighting. There is also a very significant change compared to the SB600, the ability to use the flash as a Master, that is, to ignite other flashes. Using the SB700 as a master is more convenient than, say, the SB900 due to the smaller size and weight and more convenient than the built-in flash, since the SB700's head can be rotated. The concept of flash control is very pleasing, the same as that of the SB900, even in some cases improvements have been made. There is a separate switch to change the lighting patterns, as in the SB900 and other important settings can be switched quickly without using the menu. When using a lens with a CPU, the flash itself recognizes the focal length and adjusts the zoom head to it. In general, the flash control is easy and intuitive (much easier than the SB600) The SB700 does not have a sync contact like the SB900, but it is still not a competitor to the SB900, but a continuation of the SB600. Power, of course, the SB700 is inferior to its older sister. For example, the guide number on a DX matrix at ISO100 focal 50mm is 34.5 for SB700 and 46 for SB900! But the "range" of both SB is equal, at ISO1600 20 meters. Of course, in the end, everyone decides for himself how much the difference in power is important for him, but the more, the better. I personally really like the SB700, in comparison with the SB600, significant improvements were made in the control and added functions such as the Master. Compared to the SB 900, the SB 700 is inferior, of course, in terms of power and the absence of a sync contact. But today, the difference in price between SB700 and SB900 is quite significant (4k-5k rubles), and for non-pros there is no point in overpaying. And for the pros, this option can be a good alternative to the built-in flash or the SU800 module.

Advantages:
high-quality assembly, it can work as a slave or a master, ergonomics at a height (control is convenient and intuitive), all modes are worked out correctly, convenient attachment to the shoe, and the dimensions are small .. In general, convenient in all respects
Disadvantages:
unless the price .. although how to look at it. well, time will tell, but for now I don't see any negative
Comment:
before that I used Sigma EF 530 DG Super .. for me SB-700 is much more convenient, easier and more reliable. It's a pleasure to shoot

Advantages:
functional with small dimensions, good equipment, a diffuser, two light filters, a leg. an intuitive menu, although it is still useful and necessary to read the instructions. CLS system (the most pleasant thing if you know how to work with it), and it can also be master and slave
Disadvantages:
no information about the battery charge
Comment:
Well what can I say, NIKON is NIKON. The dimensions of the device itself do not exceed the SB-600, but the functionality is at the level of the top SB-900. Everything is in place, does not creak, does not play, everything is fixed where it is needed and when it is needed, and all this despite the fact that it is made in China. There is a reflector card, there is a diffuser glass, controlled by almost two buttons. The truth is sometimes overexposed, but then she herself says that it is necessary to make a correction, and it is up to you to make it or not. I have never overheated, the speed of recharging depends on the capacity and state of charge of the power source, which is understandable. I tried to put on bunny batteries, I worked about 500 puffs, I think it's not a bad result. In general, if you are thinking about taking or not taking, definitely - TAKING. Addition after two years of use: The device still works reliably, no backlashes have appeared (although many people complain about this), it is securely fixed on the camera. The only sin behind the puff is that sometimes it does not work correctly in TTL mode, but this does not cause problems, since you can easily enter an amendment both on the device itself and on the camera (even remotely, which is a very pleasant moment). The number of puffs during continuous shooting largely depends on the batteries, and it is understandable. In the end, I want to say that I have not changed my opinion, I still recommend it for purchase. Good luck to all

Advantages:
The first and foremost advantage is Nikon! Easy-to-use FP sync (especially good when illuminated during the day) Convenient system for fixing the puff on the carcass (quickly, clearly) Good equipment Average flash size Can be master and slave (the previous model cannot do that) TLL works without errors Head zoom Fast enough reloading
Disadvantages:
There is no indication of the battery status (over time, you are guided by the recharge time) Many people write that the fixation to the camera is not ideal. Yes, there is a backlash, but it is not very big and it doesn't bother me in any way. Much more convenient than twisting the ring. The power of puff is sometimes really not enough, but very sometimes :)
Comment:
I'm not a professional, but sometimes I rent for $. Once again, I snapped a group of people (Jeeping) with Yongnuo puff, made money and bought SB 700. The difference is heaven and earth !!! Although Yongnuo also thanks a lot - I'm used to manual work with the flash)) Very convenient Flash - with a capital letter! Fast, powerful, strong. Take out the menu for 10 minutes. Cool handbag, filters are also cool theme. In general, I am happy with the purchase every time I turn it on. I advise everyone. Definitely BUY !!!

Advantages:
Build quality, ease of use (compare with the SB-600), a convenient latch for fixing on the shoe, weight and dimensions are almost the same as those of the SB-600, but the functionality is closer to the SB-900
Disadvantages:
Until I found it, everything is just fine
Comment:
Purchased in Germany, December 2010, assembled in Japan, cost slightly over 300 euros. Assembled perfectly! I use with the D5000 camera, that is, the DX matrix. I tested it with universal or reportage lenses 18-105 and 18-200 - enough for a bang. I compare it with the SB-600 and see a decent difference, I believe that the SB-700 is just for those for whom the SB-600 is not enough, and there will already be a lot of SB-900, for example, for such cameras as D5000, D7000, D90, D300. ..

Advantages:
- compact, convenient, lightweight - excellent complete set with a case, diffuse and color filters - FP synchronization - build quality and materials - economical to batteries (especially in manual mode)
Disadvantages:
- backlash on the D7000 hot shoe - very inconvenient to switch to remote mode - switch lock button and switch itself och. small, you have to switch with your fingernail.
Comment:
I bought Nikon D7000 instead of Nissin Di-466. The Nissin Di-466 was not satisfied with the rotary head and the lack of FP synchronization. My first thought when I put it on camera: "Damn, why the hell is she hanging out." Backlash spoiled the first impression very much. The flash is not heavy, it is assembled very well, it is tightly made of solid plastic, does not creak in the hands, a convenient battery compartment lock. I was very pleased with the rich set of the flash. The power is enough for confident shooting in a room with high ceilings, there are no annoying mistakes in comparison with the Nissin. FP works, but the flash loses quite a lot in power. While I use Duracell Turbo batteries - the machine has enough for 300-400 frames of unhurried shooting. Recharging on the new kit is instantaneous, by the end it's quite long, now I'm picking up a charger and batteries. Summary: the flash is for an advanced amateur, for beginners there are options from third-party manufacturers (which is easier and cheaper), and for the "pro" top solutions of the same Nissin or SB910 (whose capabilities will rarely be in demand in amateur photography, and the price is high) ps in the near future it will be possible to evaluate the operation of the flash as a slave from the built-in D7000, so there will be a review update soon

Advantages:
The set includes 2 light filters, stand, diffuser, built-in reflector. Powered by four penlight batteries - if the batteries run out, you can just buy batteries in the nearest tent. Powerful.
Disadvantages:
Battery charge indicator is missing.
Comment:
I bought from my hands almost a year and a half ago. Since then, a photographer friend has taken it from me more than once at a photo shoot, he is very pleased, he says that if he buys a flash for himself, he will buy the same one. Turns around nicely. Works great even in automatic mode. Intuitive settings, easy to figure out without instructions. Doing home photography with her and shooting indoors in general is just gorgeous! I also used it on the street in the dark, with the ability to adjust it, too, a good result.
December 7, 2013, Moscow
Advantages:
All advantages are described. I fully share the impressions of other users. I noted for myself - 1) a relatively large guide number, helped out a couple of times when photographing in low light conditions from 12-15 meters, 2) remote control of a standard camera flash (Nikon D90)
Disadvantages:
There is no indication of the discharge of batteries, but this is not critical - with active operation, the degree of discharge is easily determined by the flash recharge time.
Comment:
I have been using it for almost a year, I often use it (domestic amateur photography): indoors, with reflection from the ceiling, less often from walls; outdoors in low light or vice versa in bright sun to work out details in the shadows. It completely covers current needs and leaves room for further creative development.

Advantages:
- small dimensions - complete set (diffuser, two light filters, stand) - lightweight - high-quality assembly - power - handy bag for storage (also included)
Disadvantages:
as they said, there is not enough battery charging indicator, that's probably all
Comment:
For a long time I rushed to look for an undersold copy of SB-600 or take a Sat-700 and not fool my head. I stopped at the second one, I was satisfied with everything, I was pleased with the equipment, for an amateur the most. I advise everyone
January 25, 2012
Advantages:
Complete set with filters. The system is made so competently that it not only recognizes the color of the worn filter, but also transmits its color temperature to the camera - the BB works more adequately. Power is enough to work through a ceiling in a room with high black ceilings in critical conditions. Moderate appetite in terms of using batteries - 2700 enough for about a week (5 days for 200-300 shots in the forehead and over the ceiling). Convenient control - the sliders on the sides are much faster than the buttons, not to mention the menu. The AF illuminator is gorgeous. In our own tests, we have verified confident response for 1/8000 sec, albeit weak)
Disadvantages:
Plastic. After a year of use, the latch on the head began to stick.
Comment:
Light reportage puff. It is quite possible to work.
