Advantages:
- from the options for the PC, the best price for the whale (helmet + controllers); - LCD screen instead of OLED - the text is read better, less decay into the spectrum / color moire / xs as it is called; - inside-out tracking of controllers - no base stations needed; - does not require a super-powerful computer due to 2560 × 1440 resolution and 80Hz refresh rate. I have a 2012 i5 + nvidia gtx 1070, like norms.
Disadvantages:
- fixed IPD (interpupillary distance) - standard 63.5mm; - unregulated scanning frequency at 80Hz - if you swing the sword in beat saber, you can clearly see the strobe effect, but you can hardly distinguish it from the standard 90Hz.
Comment:
I wanted a helmet for a computer, but other helmets did not suit for the price. Plus, since the helmet is the first, I don't have any base stations and controllers from other helmets, so I had to take a full set, and this, in turn, is a loot. And here everything is included and for one price. In general, the helmet is valid - no problems with connection and setup. The tracking of the controllers and the helmet works out clearly. The picture is pleasing to the eye, even with the "mosquito net effect". Apparently because in LCD displays pixels are honestly arranged in rows of 3 subpixels, and not like in OLED Pentile, where one blue subpixel goes to a group of 2x green and 2x red subpixels, which leads to a kind of hexagonal image (see through the lens on youtube ). Here the picture is clearer and moiré is less visible at the edges of objects, although the colors are probably worse than those of OLED. Thanks to the inside-out tracking system, no additional base stations are needed, but the controllers are not caught behind the back, so climbing in games can be difficult. The only and main problem is the lack of the ability to regulate the interpupillary distance, and this is important! I have an IPD = 66mm, with 63.5mm installed in the helmet. Plus it turned out that I have a crooked face :) In general, for the right eye, the sweet spot (the area of the best clarity) is right on the whole screen, that is, you rotate your eye and almost everything remains clear. But for the left, even a slight shift to the left of the center leads to significant blurring of the image. You have to strongly pull the helmet to your eyes and move it to the left to even out the effect. It gets better, but still bevelling the eyes towards the edges will blur the image. At the same time, the software IPD setting corrects only the visual sizes of objects (I, as I understand, for a better stereoscopic effect), but the sweet spot in the lenses remains as it was. So 66mm is the limit for this helmet. I cannot estimate the lower limit of IPD, but I also think I should look at 63.5 - 3mm = 60.5mm

Advantages:
Price, the most important advantage =) Lenses, ease of use, ease of setup - in fact, I connected two cables, one to the video card, the second to USB 3.0 and that's it. Then just install the Oculus program from their official website to register and everything can be used. In the program, you can both buy games and use applications. If there are purchased games in Steam, then install Steam VR. Next, you can launch games from the Oculus app. =) As for the wire, then after PS VR it does not bother at all =) The sound is also a dignity for a rather interesting solution to install speakers, and it is also possible to connect headphones, this connection is both a dignity and not a wealth, but through speakers without headphones to play comfortable, I have a TV about 2-3 meters away and it does not interfere with playing if someone is watching =) It is possible to look through the cameras built into Oculus, which is mega convenient, if you need to understand where you are in the room, switch to cameras and the whole room can be seen as through a night vision device, only in black and white format and not very clearly, but this is a huge plus that you don’t remain like a blind kitten with glasses. =) The ability to play with glasses, I haven’t tried it myself, but in the annotation to glasses have instructions for playing with glasses. (I couldn't help but point this out, although I haven't tried it myself.)
Disadvantages:
The disadvantages can be attributed to manipulators, no, they seem to be comfortable and at the same time not. They are small, they seem to be comfortable to hold, but at the same time they have a feeling of fragility and this is annoying. Then the location of the buttons on the manipulators. I'd like to swap the buttons and joystick. I don’t know I have such a manipulator first and maybe I’ll get used to it, but according to the first sensations, it’s just infuriating =) Light. Yes, it is the lighting that can serve as a disadvantage, since the cameras are in a poorly lit room (example: you play until 1 a.m., and the household goes to bed and, as a result, turn off the light, respectively, the only source of light is the monitor or TV set.) Cameras begin to see poorly as manipulators , and to navigate in space. No, they will be positioned, but I can also throw you out to set up the play area. Therefore, the solution to such a problem can be the presence of a night light or, like I have chandeliers with blue light, something like night lighting =) And sleeping comfortably and the cameras see everything =) Also, to minor drawbacks I can attribute a paralonka that adjoins the face of the face, she's a pancake very tough, so that after 3-4 hours spent in a helmet, you will have clear evidence on your face that you have played VR, or you can say that you were driving a motorcycle in motorcycle glasses. =) There is a solution to this problem, in the form of buying softer linings, I saw this from some reviewers. It's not that it's straight minus a strong strong one, but however, it exists, for whom a standard paralonka will suffice, and will not strain the track, but I will still fork out and this is a minus =)
Comment:
The impressions are very, very positive, both from the fact that there is an opportunity to create a room 1x1 sq. M. and it is convenient for yourself to play different games from races to adventure games such as No Man Sky while sitting in a chair or cockpit. Initially, I took glasses for simrace, and now I have switched to different ones because nothing really limits me. By the way, I read a lot that they say the distance between the eyes cannot be changed. And this confused me for a long time and kept me from buying, until I read that, in fact, the distance between the eye space is quite changing hardware. Whoever had PS VR knows how to do it, it's easy, convenient and very simple. So, who else is confused by this problem, then feel free to sweep it aside, it can be solved. There is such an item in the application settings, but the 63.5 mm standard was enough for me. I will drop the VR photo later, if I find my own review later =) For I am writing a review from work, but there are no pictures of pictures =) But my verdict is definitely to take and take, especially to all sim racing lovers, just don't fucking play them while in Assetto Corsa Competizione, I haven't seen such non-optimization for VR, everything is twitchy, the camera shakes as if you are not driving a sports car, but on a tractor on potholes, and I can pull out microlags =) as a PS VR owner, I can say definitely YES Oculus Rift S =) It is for the convenience and ease of use, as well as for the picture and sound =) PS As I use Oculus, I will supplement the review, maybe I will still find a bunch of pluses, and maybe a bunch of minuses =) Let's wait and see ;-)

Advantages:
Yes, that's a thing! I bought at the end of November almost twice as cheap as it is now (I - intuition), but if I knew how much pleasure he would bring me this winter, I would have paid double the price without hesitation! Fortunately, I don't have to pay this price, which is doubly pleasant. Unfortunately (or not), me, an old gamer (who started with the Spectrum), is no longer playing regular games. For several years now I got off some quake mod, and was almost sure that computer games are a thing of the past. It turned out that this is not the case. For a few months, the virtual game brought back the time of my youth, the time when everything began (in the world of computers). I will list a few games: FORM, SUPERHOT VR, Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Half-Life Alyx, GORN. For my daughter - Job Simulator, Vacation Simulator. It was a short romance, but it was very hot! Thanks Oculus!

Advantages:
Easy to install and configure Image quality No tracking dead zones
Disadvantages:
Sometimes the tracking of hands in the chest area is blunt
Comment:
Six months ago, I took Oculus go and the usual Oculus rift for a few days. Go clearly did not suit me, you can only watch videos on it. The old version of the rift annoyed me with the complexity of the settings - the first time I spent 20 minutes setting up the play area, and then the settings could get lost. And with two standard motion sensors, hand tracking often stopped working - it was enough to turn sideways to them, and if you turn your back, it did not work at all.In this model, everything became much better: - First setting in 1 minute - Tracking always works - Takes 1 usb port, and not 3 as before - The image is clearer, it is easier to put on the helmet correctly so that the image does not blur (but there is a feature that I instinctively raise the helmet higher than necessary) - The transition beyond the boundaries of the game zone is coolly implemented (video from cameras is broadcast to the screen) - Many problems are solved by updating the software (or will be solved in the future) There was a problem out of the box - the helmet periodically turned off by itself. Fixed with recent update. Sometimes the calibration of the play area is also reset - once we drove its boundaries and a couple of times my height setting broke. This can be cured in 1 minute by re-setting in the oculus device. It was a little upset that right now out of 6 featured games from the box, one is not available in Russia and three have not yet been released

Advantages:
A completely different feeling from games - new emotions! I like that the sound is built in. By double-pressing the Oculus button on the right remote control, you can instantly switch to the room view mode. The safe zone is coolly implemented, it is always clear that it is no longer worth reaching forward.
Disadvantages:
The interpupillary distance is fixed, so it is not possible to give children a try to play. In a fit of gaming passion, controllers sometimes want to kick back.
Comment:
For a long time I have not experienced such pleasant sensations from the money spent. Even my wife agreed that this helmet works out every ruble spent! She downloaded Moss, and I downloaded Half-life Alyx. For more than 2 hours in a row I can't play, probably my age already knows about itself :) I noticed that after 2 hours of playing the real world becomes virtual for about another hour, so consciousness definitely changes this helmet.Yesterday I climbed into the refrigerator after the game, so to take yogurt - I tried to press with my middle finger ... finish ...

A very good thing. Quality of materials, image, sound. But the fixed distance between the lenses makes use impossible. I have ~ 70mm, my wife and child ~ 57mm. Remarkably, on average we have just 63.5 - perfect! Nagging about the loss of tracking when placing hands behind the back or close to the helmet is a uniform stupidity, it is impossible to play like that, but the absolutely correct remark behind the back of the helmet does not see the hand. The price in the Russian Federation under NG is sooo frustrating!
December 23, 2019, Moscow
Advantages:
- Price (the only really affordable VR kit in the Russian Federation). - Weight. After the Vive, the helmet is just weightless, and the weight is distributed thanks to the attachment device. A huge difference after the first generation of VR. - Excellent tracking of controllers, does not get lost even close to the face, from the side, from below or above the helmet (saves an additional camera from above). - Good image clarity. The pixel grid is clearly visible, but if you don't look closely, you forget about it. After Vive, heaven and earth. - Convenience of connection. Includes 2 controllers, helmet and 2 batteries. Insert the batteries, connect the headset to the PC, install the Oculus software, and that's it. No base stations, everything is very simple (again, I compare it to Vive).
Disadvantages:
- There is no IPD lens position adjustment. Check your interpupillary distance by any means. If it is less than 61mm or more than 68mm, forget, the helmet will not fit you. There will be constant discomfort, inability to adjust so that the image does not blur. (there is software adjustment, but in fact it does not give anything, there is no magic - for compatibility with wide strata of the population - physical adjustment is needed which is not here) - Poor attachment to the face. With sharp movements of the head - the helmet (albeit quite light) has a sickly inertia, twitches relative to the head - which in turn leads to unpleasant twitching of the image. The tracking of the helmet is certainly good but not perfect. Some work is needed here for a more stable fit on the face. In addition, unnecessary movements of the helmet lead to its displacement relative to your pupils - which reduces the clarity of the image and requires frequent adjustments of the helmet position. It is especially important when you have to look vertically down or up in the game. - Very poor black depth. Black is very bright, more like gray. - God rays are very visible in some scenes.
Comment:
In general, the helmet leaves a good impression, it is ideal as the first helmet to get acquainted with a wide range of VR games (for those who have not yet formed their tastes in the VR genres). The image quality will be insufficient for fans of air / auto simulators. In general, despite the described shortcomings, the picture leaves a good impression. When the game is interesting and the helmet sits as it should be, you forget about the minuses and you can safely read the text in the games and examine the details. Who is this helmet suitable for (IMHO): - You are primarily interested in PC-VR games with modern graphics, such as HL: Alyx. - You are not attracted by "mobile" VR. - You are on a limited budget or do not want to spend too much on VR. - You have an average PC power. If you need a wireless mobile VR - wait and buy a new Quest. If VR image quality is important to you, your video card can handle 4K games and you are ready to pay extra - wait for the HP Reverb G2 (does both the Rift S and Index).

Advantages:
Very easy to install (not counting USB 3.0 and the requirements for the latest drivers) Convenient, takes up little space (no tracking cameras needed, everything is in a helmet) very high quality images, there is a feeling of immersion in VR.
Disadvantages:
At the first "serious" use (2-3 hours of playing), a creak appeared in the left controller when the upper trigger was pressed and the right upper trigger "stuck". Quite often, the playing area gets lost, but not critical.
Comment:
I liked the helmet very much, on various games there are no lags or something like that, I can't say anything about the problem in the bit siber described in another commentary, I have no "strobe" effect, maybe it depends on the hardware. If the controllers hadn't failed, it would have been 5 stars. Helmet and controllers passed for examination. Games: Beat Saber Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality SUPERHOT VR Aircar Red Matter Mr. Hack Jack: Robot Detective Subnatica (game is extremely poorly optimized for VR -_-) PC conf: RTX 2070 i5 6500 RAM 8GB
14 August 2019, Moscow
Advantages:
The expectations from the product are fully justified. The immersion effect is just wow. There were concerns about tracking controllers tied to cameras (it's worse than with base stations) and yes, there are problems with it, but they don't bother. If this is the first helmet and there is nothing to compare with, then you should not bother at all. There are a lot of games for every taste. Who loves horror is JUST a new level of the game. The rhythm of the game is great, the VR bestseller BeatSaber alone is what it would be worth buying this helmet for. Roller coasters leave none of the guests indifferent.
Disadvantages:
The covers of the battery compartment in the controllers are very tense - they are unsuccessfully located in active games when waving your hands, you move them from your place with your palm and the controller tends to fly out of your hands. Frankly infuriates. The batteries in the controllers are ordinary AA. Enough for 3 days of active use. The viewing angle is the same as in a snorkeling mask. HTC, even an ordinary one, is not a pro in this regard, I liked it better. Setting up on the one hand is very simple. On the other hand, he is very picky about the gland. On the old motherboard, the Z68, which formally met the requirements, did not start. Neither updating the BIOS, no firewood for everything that is possible, nor reinstalling Windows solved the problem. I had to change almost the entire computer and it's good that it coincided with the planned update, otherwise what to do. Tracking does not work in dark rooms. And if, for example, the playing area is set up in bright light, then when these conditions change (read, turn off the overhead light, there is only a floor lamp + monitor), it throws errors like "too dark, tracking will not work, return it as it was."
Comment:
VR, even in its current rudimentary development, pleases and gives new cool sensations even to hard-core video game lovers.
September 21, 2019, Podolsk
Advantages:
Light weight, convenient attachment, simple setup No additional sensors.
Disadvantages:
I haven't found it yet.
Comment:
For correct operation, you must immediately update all drivers to the latest versions.
