Advantages:
The set is perfectly and securely packed. Color-coded cables and pins on each speaker make connecting speakers to your amplifier intuitive. Very convenient calibration using the supplied microphone (AccuEQ). Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve optimal distribution of sound between the speakers. The rear speakers turned out to be very compact. They look neat on the wall. The front speakers, despite their size, also look good on the wall. All functions work as stated on the manufacturer's website. It is very convenient when you turn on the PS4 further along the chain, the receiver and TV are automatically turned on. With the appropriate TV setting, the TV remote control can adjust the sound on the receiver. There are also two convenient schemes for the operation of the receiver: 1) The receiver itself is turned off, but the picture / sound is transmitted to the TV in the bypass summary. In this mode, I watch a TV set-top box or play on PS4 (when I use headphones, not acoustics) 2) The receiver can transmit a picture to the TV in bypass mode, while playing music itself (fm radio or from a Bluetooth source). For example, I'm playing PS4 with headphones, and someone at home wants to listen to music at this time.
Disadvantages:
The remote is overloaded with buttons. I don't use most of them. But all constantly necessary buttons are conveniently and intuitively located. There is a peculiarity when listening to music via Bluetooth. If you listened to music from smartphone # 1 and at the end did not disconnect the smartphone-receiver connection, then you will not be able to immediately connect the already configured smartphone # 2 to the receiver. Those. Ideally, you need to disconnect the connection to the receiver on the smartphone itself. This is only relevant if you are listening to music from more than one Bluetooth source.
Comment:
Very happy with the purchase. Now it's really convenient to use multiple picture / sound sources. I have connected to the receiver: mac mini, PS4 Pro, TV set-top box + iPhone via Bluetooth. There is only one hdmi cable for the TV. The sound quality suits me completely. Before that, I used the Logitech Z-5500 kit. The advantages of the Onkyo kit over my past speakers are clear and compelling. Because I don't have a 4K TV, I can't judge the quality of 4K picture transmission yet. But judging by the technical characteristics, the receiver should do an excellent job with this. If you prefer to set individual image processing settings for each source on your TV (movie / game modes, color temperature, additional image processing), then when using a receiver it will be problematic. Because the receiver is connected to the TV with one cable. This is not a disadvantage for me. I set the TV to Game mode and turned off all the enhancers (Philips 97pfl9703). I do not observe any flaws in the display of the picture.
