Advantages: + very beautiful and stylish thing! + thanks to the recessed rubber feet (there are 4 of them) and beveled edges, the hand lies down and is felt in height like on a mat with a rubber base, i.e. the height is comfortable, the board lies on the table like a glove +, again, the beveled edges make this rug pleasant for the hand when the hand is on the edge. + if you need to move the mouse together with the rug, then this procedure is much more convenient than with a flexible rug. + it is much easier to clean the specks from such a rug. He brushed it off and that's it. But on a regular surface with a cloth surface, sometimes it is impossible to blow off any grain of sand, the mouse travels and vibrates along it, because the grains of sand are retained in the structure of the tissue.
Disadvantages: - sliding is not as quiet as on soft with a fabric top layer (like Trust Eco-Friendly Mouse Pad 21051). Before that, I had a similar type of Trust. The mouse glides over it perfectly, I would say perfect, but there are also disadvantages (read in pluses to aluminum). Fabric ones are absolutely (!) Noiseless, but there is some noise on the aluminum surface. And the cheaper the mouse you have, the stronger it will be. And the sliding itself will also be highly dependent on the mouse. I will explain below. - does not work with all mice. In the store I checked, they have the cheapest laser mouse, it could not master this carpet. Let's go to another computer, there is also cheap, but Logitek, and it worked perfectly. My house also plows beautifully, but I have a good Logitek. However, I also have the world's cheapest mouse at home. As I remember now, a couple of years ago I ended up in some dumb store, it cost a maximum of one hundred rubles. I took it simply because at that moment I was switching to a new computer and I had to throw the mouse back and forth. So I've never seen anything cheaper in my life, and it works great *. * It works great in terms of cursor movement. But there is a very, very important nuance. Good Logitech mice are thought out not only functionally, but also ergonomically. They have wide and SMOOTH sliding (!!!) platforms (see photo). And with such pads, the mouse glides, albeit with some noise and almost so perfectly, but good. If something is noticeably accurate, then it is a sound, and the effort during friction is more likely to be realized theoretically. Another thing is a Deshman Chinese product on three small rough (!!) stumps made of rough, untreated plastic. It may function, but no one can endure such a nightmare.
Comment: I don’t know how anyone has it, but my hand lies on the mat just at the bend of the hand, where the forearm begins. There, the skin, as you know, is very thin, and therefore all sorts of roughness are a little irritating. My former rubber and even a new rubber one (see photo, bought in case you don’t like aluminum), and many rubber-based rugs have a little bit annoying corner, because it’s singed (so that the fabric doesn’t bloom) edges stick into skin and here is a perfectly flat cut, it works like a rounding, a smooth surface does not cause any discomfort to the hand. Since I recently purchased a carpet, I cannot say anything with certainty about the durability of the sliding surface. Initially I thought it was coating, spraying. Then he looked closely. Then I photographed it in macro mode. It looks like this is after all aluminum processing. But all the same, the question remains open, how long it will last. The lumin itself will not go anywhere, but it will grind off the plastic of the mouse, the pores will clog. And, perhaps, one day, after many years .... :)) It will no longer be recognized by the laser, but it will slide perfectly)) All this is speculation, no more. It will last two hundred pounds for two years, but I don’t need more. They wrote here about the cold from the metal. First, a person confuses concepts. That's why it is cold because metal removes heat well. Unlike rubber and fabric. Secondly, after a few seconds, the cold is no longer so obvious. Third, some may like it. It just doesn't matter to me. But the smooth edge does not cut the hand, for me this is more important. Total: come to the store with your mouse be sure, this carpet is not for everyone. But if you do not have a fundamental point of absolute (!) Noiselessness or, for example, the requirement of poor thermal conductivity, and most importantly there is a really good mouse with smooth wide (and not worn out) sliding pads, then the rug can fit you very well. Yes, it rustles, but not like bad mice. Yes, it is cold, but there is something in it.

Advantages: Awesome appearance! Non-slip surface. Pleasant velvety surface. Perfectly soft (smooth) mouse movement on the surface. Doesn't get dirty. The corners are not folded.
Disadvantages: Aluminum. Does not conduct heat, does not heat up at hand, and therefore, the surface is always cool. Color "gold" - with a pink tint.
Comment: What prevented the manufacturer from making the alloy more thermally conductive? For an eternal cold surface - minus one star.
