Opinions from the Sony UBP-X700

Advantages:
- reads UHD Blu-ray normally - plays 4k movies from external hdd via USB (I tried WD 1 and 4 terabytes) - normally reduces multichannel sound to stereo (in case the sound is output through TV, then there will be no such thing that the surrounding sounds scream, and dialogues are barely audible) - dlna support - support for the H.265 (HEVC) codec - separate hdmi output for outputting only sound - navigation through the system (applications, settings, etc.) without lags, etc. (as the owner of a TV on an android has than to compare ...) - when playing with the display button, you can display the current bitrate of the video and audio stream - compact size - metal case
Disadvantages:
- does not support Dolby Digital Plus sound (aka E-AC-3) - refuses to play Dolby TrueHD + Atmos soundtrack in mkv files, although it plays back from a blu-ray disc (which states that the original sound in Dolby Atmos) without problems - when played in 4k 60p HDR will automatically convert to SDR - does not support wifi 5GHz. and you can't watch movies at 2.4 4k - disgusting-looking subtitles when playing mkv files (see photo). Subs with blu-ray are displayed in normal font. Perhaps it depends on the encoding. - poor navigation through the video being played: - you can only rewind with the <<, >> buttons; - jump through chapters with the buttons | <,> | only works for disks. For files with hdd, it moves to the next file, even if it is there.

Advantages:
was bought in germany in a well-known online store locked under B discs of blurs loses without problems the ones bought here, of course, immediately demanded an update when connected to the LAN, excellent image from disks, with usb flash the picture stretches to 4k, dolby vision can be turned off many settings , Russian language is present in the menu.
Disadvantages:
no 5 GHz WI-FI, no usb 3.0 price.
Comment:
a processor like a Panasonic would have hcx, and so there is a media library in a sony.

Advantages:
Plays almost everything from both optical discs and USB, excellent picture, fast start and response, plays up to 4k 60 fps HDR, plays HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, Sony Deep Color, YCnCr 4: 2: 0, 4: 2 : 2, 4: 4: 4. There is a separate HDMI output for audio output, which is important for owners of 2k receivers
Disadvantages:
Doesn't play DVD-Audio (so I won't throw away the old DVD player yet). Does not play BD-J menu from USB (which is not surprising though)
Comment:
In general, I think: an excellent model for the money. The main thing is to use a good 4k HDMI cable: 90% of output problems are due to a bad cable (at first he sinned that he did not play 4k 60 fps HDR without converting to SDR)

Advantages:
Size, no noise, dual HDMI
Disadvantages:
All markers are different in taste and color))
Comment:
Satisfied as an elephant, while there were no problems or doubts about buying this device. P. S. Hdr 4k 60p plays without problems at 2.4GHz

Advantages:
Build quality
Disadvantages:
I bought a 5 TB hard drive and he does not read it, as it turned out that this device does not eat more than 4 TB. And this is in the era of nanotechnology. It's a pity that a company like sony makes such weak equipment
Comment:
In general, everything is fine, the picture is superb. Regular blur scales well some films and cannot be distinguished from 4K

Advantages:
Ideal for the price if you are interested in original images of blu ray 4k films. I loaded the console decently - it read huge images perfectly and smoothly displayed even the most dynamic scenes !!!!! no out-of-sync in picture and sound was observed!
Disadvantages:
you cannot open images of movies from folders over the network (no grids are supported here) - one continuous streaming only the dlna standard - for example, if you have storage, then 4K movies will shamelessly slow down (only if a NAS with a powerful process - everything will be ok) but here you are problems await t to 4K films in HDR with a volume of 60 GB and above with atmos sound can fly away at a bit rate for 100 megabits at a moment (and in Sonya, just such a network is installed - and at this moment again the picture will twitch !!) as a result it turns out connecting this set-top box via lan and trying to shoot the maximum quality in the picture and sound here is a completely useless exercise !!! an excellent way to get around all these problems is to connect to Sonya via usb - HDD docking station with hard - and then the perfect picture and sound without brakes on films where the bitrate exceeds 100 megabits in BDMV containers is guaranteed !!!!!!! in this configuration, from time to time you have to re-upload new films to hard - but given the low price of the set-top box and the quality of the picture it gives, it is quite possible to live with it !!! A couple of times it seriously hung up - after a complete shutdown, it still booted back to the factory settings
Comment:
I chose as the main player 4K blu ray HDR / Atmos movies in conjunction with the receiver marantz 6013 / 11.2 (pioneer and oppo players are not affordable for the price)
