Advantages: Sperm! Powerful, many accessories, customizable from a PC. Honest performance characteristics.
Disadvantages: Native battery - LITTLE! It is obligatory to buy in addition for 1.7 Ach. A stock antenna sucks! Take a longer one. The headset connector is made very poorly - it constantly falls out (I fasten it with electrical tape). There is no battery charge indicator. It appears at the very last moment, when the time is already charging.
Comment: You can recommend it to fishermen and hunters, BUT: - in general, it requires registration, - it's too heavy, - there are too many unnecessary functions in this matter, - I didn't think I would say this - but FM is very useful in such events, - you can only recommend it to hunters / fishermen taking into account the current price. It is imperative to "buy" what is needed (battery and antenna); do not take the headset - take an external microphone (aka speaker) and hang the radio on the belt, and the microphone on the lapel of the jacket by analogy with the joint venture (do not forget about the electrical tape); if it's expensive - look at the people of China (Quansheng TG-UV2, BAOFENG UV5R), if finances allow - take VX-6R. And for a radio amateur with little money - an ideal option! Only Kenwood TH-F5 is cheaper, the quality is not even weaker. By the way, do not chase after the mystical cotton wool promised by Kitaenwood - they are not there and in physics more than 3, the maximum of them cannot be squeezed, although they promise up to 8! If Kenwood - take the cheapest one that suits your requirements.

Advantages: A good portable amateur dual band radio station. Excellent value for money / quality / functionality. A capacious standard battery (1.4 A / h), when used in standby mode, several hours a day is enough for several days.
Disadvantages: The stock antenna is a compromise, not outstanding performance on both bands. Size and weight, with a screwed on clip, it is inconvenient to place in an inner pocket.
Comment: Not a bad option for use as a "workhorse". In addition to the basic functions of the radio station (organization of communication with other subscribers), it allows monitoring and listening to frequencies from 108 to 999 MHz, with the exception of the 520-700 MHz section. Operation by individuals as a radio station, that is, work not only for receiving, but also for transmitting, requires an amateur radio category and a call sign.

Advantages: The good old weakly kill professional (I emphasize) walkie-talkie with a very complex interface and a bunch of functions unnecessary for a simple hunter. If you don't want to delve into what a frequency shift is and repeaters, I advise you to turn to simpler options.
Disadvantages: Menu, menu, and menu again. All other cons of this. It is not a pleasure for everyone to carry 80 sheets of instructions into the forest. There is no indicator of the remaining voltage on the battery. But this is configured in the menu for a "hot" button. The accessories are not cheap. For the same Barfeng, it is 5 times cheaper. Relative minus - it is impossible to work simultaneously in two ranges. The base battery is nickel-cadmium, 6 standard AA cans. Charger: it is better to buy it immediately in the form of a glass. With a regular one, you can easily disable the battery - there is no charge cutoff in the walkie-talkie when fully charged. Now lithium batteries are being sold for this radio. But keep in mind that for subzero temperatures, regular nickel is better.
Comment: This radio is your choice if you want indestructibility and quality, and they come first for you. And nevertheless, despite the disadvantages, it was an excellent device for its time. Consider that the walkie-talkie is over 15 years old and make a discount on it And yet this is a great device.

Advantages: Reliability, wide range and fairly decent sensitivity of the receiver, Japanese build quality, the ability to program from a computer, nothing superfluous with all the necessary settings.
Disadvantages: Somewhat inferior to Motorola :-) A bit heavy, but this is not so much a drawback as an inevitability associated with constructive reliability. It seemed to me that an uneven and not very accurate battery charge indicator.
Comment: An excellent "workhorse". It is not afraid of field conditions of operation (dust, falls from a small height, for example, from the upper pocket of a wind jacket on the ground, etc.). The battery lasts for several hours of intensive radio traffic and the charge still remained. How much - I can't say, the charge indicator is not so informative - not like on a smartphone :-)))
