Comment: In general, I became a devoted consumer as soon as Airplay appeared, as I often gave presentations. It's just enough to ride with a set of cables ... And then - I plugged the device into the network, the second wire into the monitor and show a presentation ... from an iPhone. Then very few people knew about it and the people were just wildly delighted))) Since then, I clearly understood that the console with the OS is a matter of time) It happened) Since few people understand why this thing is needed, I will omit the enthusiasm about the cool remote control and other garbage, which you can read about and not here, and just describe how I use it. I do not have a TV, but both rooms have 24 and 27 inches monitors. Each has an Apple TV connected. When I want to watch a movie, I launch it on the Internet on my phone and shoot it via AirPlay to the nearest monitor, which, in turn, is connected to the speakers. So much for the whole home theater. Have you decided to go to the bedroom? I just shoot from the same phone to another AppleTV in the bedroom and continue watching without issue. With MacBook airplay works like a second monitor. Unfortunately, as the main one cannot. But I just turn on AirPlay and close the MacBook lid. And I don't use the main monitor (use the insomnia app). I warn you right away that for all of the above, you need to plug the prefix with a CABLE into the router. Forget about wifi right away - it lags like hell. On the previous console I used, perhaps, YouTube, but I rented a movie ... This console has its own OS. Judging by the documentation - the same iOS, but with its own "buns". The first downloaded application is a VLC player, which now generally "untied his hands" in terms of media - it connects to my mini-server and plays Full HD movies from it over the network) Simple and fast)) I bought a bluetooth gamepad for toys and play races and flying) Beauty! There are really few quality applications so far. As well as games. But this, as usual, is a matter of time. For lovers of halivars - I am very good at Androids and have a Chromecast at home and at work. Compared to AppleTV, these are solid "dancing with a tambourine"

Advantages: Convenient attachment. Now I use a TV (not smart). Cool remote control with easy navigation. Casual games for gatherings.

Disadvantages: Siri is not available, very sorry. It is inconvenient to type the text. Good games require a gamepad that costs half a console. Blocks screen off on Philips TV (when you want to leave only music, for example)

Comment: It is convenient to watch videos and news through applications, listen to music through Apple Music. I watch movies mainly with Ipad via AirPlay, or via the ivi application (if they are free of charge there). Paid movies in the available apps from the AppStore are very expensive. I did not connect IP TV, Plex tried it, it works, but somehow it did not take root. In general, an excellent set-top box with a convenient OS, which is a pleasure to use, but more likely for those who have other Apple gadgets: Iphone or Ipad. The red price is 10 thousand. I got a little more expensive, but still not according to the official price list, a version for the American market. I read a bunch of reviews before buying, rushed between all sorts of chrome casts and xiaomi, chose a simple and easy way, suitable for a lazy person. I was very upset that Siri does not work. In my opinion, 40% of the advantages of this set-top box are in Siri. I cannot recommend this prefix to everyone.

Advantages: The process of connection, configuration and navigation is well thought out. Quite a large selection of content and applications. It's also very convenient to connect your MacBook via AirPlay. Especially nice that the Apple TV remote can control the on / off and volume of the TV, thanks to which I was finally able to get rid of the dreaded Sony remote.

Disadvantages: It is not very convenient to use the touch panel on the remote control, I constantly scroll by. Due to the fact that the remote is almost symmetrical, it is easy to confuse the buttons.

Comment:

Advantages: Apple music, 600 radio stations and everything else !!!

Disadvantages: There is no siri in Russian, but I think it will arrive with the next update.

Comment: Everything works super smoothly and quickly, the materials are of high quality, the remote control is a bomb, it does not heat up even in the eighth asphalt. I connected it to the Yamaha receiver, and he, in turn, distributed it to 5.1 and everything is ready. I almost forgot Apple Tv supports HDMI 1.4 ARC (this is not stated anywhere).

Advantages: Appearance. UI. Working with bluetooth headphones and speakers. Application support.

Disadvantages: A couple of times I noticed friezes, once I overloaded. Perhaps the fault is not the OS, but the application.

Comment: I took it to watch YouTube, listen to podcasts and music. It turned out that there is (already purchased on iOS) applications for watching videos via SMB inFuse. It turned out that you can easily share a video with a Mac mini (for example) and watch it from Apple TV. Video up to 1080p pulls completely without problems and lags, supports subs and different audio paths. Probably the most useful Apple tech item I have at home. Need a media center? Take it!

Advantages: Ease of setup, functionality. Compatible with all Apple devices in any mode of use.

Disadvantages: Work on Wi-Fi. There is not enough bandwidth to play "heavy" video files, including the "native" format (m4v).

Comment: The best media player ever.You can use the iPhone instead of the remote - it's more convenient to type text. Purchased movies and films from home collection, music, photos from iCloud plays with a bang. I haven't watched a movie with such comfort for a long time. The only thing is to connect it to the router with a cable. If you need complete information about the movie on the screen, you will have to look for a high-quality tag editor - in iFlicks2 the fields are mixed up, although it encodes well. After it, editing information through iTunes is difficult.

Advantages: The ability to install applications (I was looking forward to PLEX, games). Wi-Fi 802.11ac Remote control with touch panel. It is possible to adjust the volume from the remote control (but implemented crookedly - see comments).

Disadvantages: At the moment, the connection of external bluetooth keyboards is not supported (tested on Apple Wireless Keyboard). The control via the iOS Apple Remote application does not work. There are still few applications and they are damp. Lack of Optical out. There is no support for resolutions higher than 1080p (although there is not much online content of this quality yet). There is no siri in Russian, but in order to use siri in English, you need to connect the American apple id.

Comment: In general, the device turned out to be very good. Iron allows you to very quickly respond to user actions (rewind video, move between menu items). But, apparently, Apple was in such a hurry to bring the product to the market that it did not have time to work out basic things, such as connecting external devices. Using the search bar and entering logins / passwords without a keyboard is very dreary. Learning the remote control to the volume buttons of the receiver (in my case - an old pioneer) did not lead to the expected result (the volume is regulated somehow not very expected - it works, then it does not). I hope all these sores will be fixed in the near future.

Advantages: Airplay, air mirroring for ios and macos devices. iTunes Store with movies and music. The most convenient YouTube client, as well as podcasts for various programs and programs. Stream of a media library that is stored on a computer, laptop, network drives, and thanks to programs from the app store now supports all formats (microvoltage, avi, etc.), as well as stream from network drives, and this is already endless possibilities. And if this is not enough, there are online services (and this is a selected TV with a pleasant interface, films, series, concerts, TV shows). Comment: Finally, an app store appeared on AppleTv, they waited. Separately, I would note the remote control, now you do not need to have a bunch of others, now there is one small one that turns on and off all the devices at once, and this (in my case) a TV set, an audio receiver and the set-top box itself, it also controls the volume. IMHO no android tv and smart tv stood next to it. Damn it, I can even control the mac in the other room and see its screen on AppleTv. I will not write about games from the app store, since pampering is for the most part. I have a ps4 console, so I don't even perceive AppleTv as a game console. Although if someone is interested, I can note that the memory is 32 gigabytes for the eyes both for games and for programs. So it's better not to overpay for the 64 gig version.

Advantages: One of the most important advantages is convenient control and remote control. What you can do on it: 1) Regular TV via Beeline TV or Iptv 2) Movies in iTunes (rental costs 70-100r) ivi for free 3) Series in Amediateka, Rutube, Youtube 4) You can send videos to TV from iPhone and iPad. 5) Play arcade games 6) And tons of other things using apps
