Advantages: Everything written below, from the point of view of a complete teapot in photography and photographic equipment: The device is light and fast (the weight for a man's hand is normal, menus and photos spin quickly, does not dull or freeze). Huge selection of glasses (from brand ones to old Soviet ones with manual focus). The ability to shoot video (albeit not at the professional level, but you can shoot a matinee). Swivel screen with viewfinder mode (now you don't have to crawl on your belly for an interesting angle). Shooting in RAW / JPG format (almost any underexposed frame can be restored / corrected, extremely convenient). Built-in WIFI (I connect my smartphone to the camera through the qDslrDashboard program on Android and get full, remote control over the camera). You can shoot without a flash at ISO up to 3200 and don't be afraid of noise :) With AF-P, very fast and quiet autofocus!
Disadvantages: The battery in viewfinder mode on the screen and with WIFI connected is quite noticeable ... Good glasses are very expensive ... But Avito will help :) Stabilization only in the lens. No moisture / dust protection. No GPS, frankly.
Comment: I'm a complete newbie :) I used to try to shoot with Nikon D3000 with 18-105mm glass, I took the device for a while, I liked it and decided to buy a BBC (large black camera) for myself :) I googled, asked and settled on D5300 with 18-55mm glass (glass later change to 18-105mm or other). With the D5300, the pictures come out decent, there is enough sharpness and DD (you can rotate RAW and squeeze out a lot). You can print a photo in A1 format in full size and in a frame, on the wall :) In general, for a beginner, the camera is good. But as soon as you hold it in your hands, click, maybe you will like working with small BZK more? Photo from D5300, kit 18-55 AF-P.

Advantages: A year has passed since I bought this camera: 1) The battery lasts a long time, I have a 32GB flash drive, I had enough to take at least 800 photos per day, and not JPG, but NEF (RAW) format, which loads the processor a lot ... Initially, the battery ran out quickly, but over time I noticed that it began to be enough for more. The reason for this, I believe, is that some batteries lengthen the operating time after several full discharge and charge cycles. 2) 39 points of autofocus. For example, on the old d5100, a small number of points immediately made itself felt. True, I sometimes lacked their tenacity when shooting with a Nikkor 50mm f / 1.4 lens (on whale optics this is invisible due to the greater depth of field) with an aperture of 1.8, when you hold a sitting object from a distance (sometimes autofocus missed despite the fact that the person was multiple focus points). Also, tenacity and accuracy may be lacking when you select one single one of the extreme AF points, for example, in 3D tracking mode, small misses are especially noticeable on high-aperture optics, it is better when several points work.
Disadvantages: 1) On the old nikon d5100, the focusing of the lifeview mode works faster, noticeably faster, given that on this nikon the screen goes out after shooting and thinks for a long time. After that, where is the guarantee that buying a new nikon in it will not make any function that worked normally on older models worse? If you are thinking about the d5500, then you should make sure that this flaw has been corrected. Lifeview may be needed by performers of unusual angles using a rotary screen. I advise you to watch the live view on the nikon d5300 video review on YouTube, what to indicate for yourself how critical this disadvantage is for you. 2) I do not know whether to refer to shortcomings. In live mode, when shooting at night with a closed aperture, nothing is visible. Why do you close the aperture before shooting and you can see everything, but after the first frame with the aperture closed you can't see anything? Logically, autofocus should always work with the maximum open aperture and close it only when the shutter is released, but this is not the case here. 3) During the day, the screen is difficult to see, even in cloudy weather. I did not try to adjust the brightness.
Comment: I did not write about the quality of the photo, because I believe that for those who photograph in RAW and process the photo manually, I think that Canon, Nikon, Sony, or Pentax are able to provide an acceptable picture. In general, he knows how to photograph, and this is the main thing. I advise you to look at ergonomics in the store. The peculiarity of this camera is that it is an amateur, there are also advanced amateur DSLRs, such as the D7100. In our camera, unlike the older ones, there is no autofocus correction function, and there is no button for viewing the sharpness at the point where the camera focused. I won't say anything about the video, I don't shoot it.And yet, for those who start shooting in RAW, select a high-speed memory card, the speed of 10 MB / s is not enough for me, more details here https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital

Advantages: The build quality of the carcass and the whale is 18-140, viewfinder, matrix resolution.
Disadvantages: Work in lifeview mode, in-camera jeep, auto-mode, work in low light.
Comment: 2 years and several thousand photos from the purchase, and now you can soberly evaluate my first DSLR. At first I shot with a car and was not happy - the pictures did not come out very well. There is a lot of noise in the photographs - you are holding a serious, well-assembled device in your hands, and the result is like shooting with a soap dish. As a result, I started digging through the settings and shooting in manual mode, then the camera started playing with new colors. A year after the purchase, I started photographing in RAV. The transition to this format also seriously affected the quality of the material, at the same time I got a huge range of adjustments for processing in color and tone. Only after trying to shoot in the manual and it makes sense to start digging into the hardware. Whale optics are a bit dark, this is a bit limiting; but how much is a high-quality fast optics with a similar focal range ?? - this is a completely different price category. The lens is sharp throughout the entire focal range, the stabilizer allows you to take blur-free shots with 1/20 shutter speed - well, except for the 140mm focal length. The focal range allows you to photograph interiors at the short end, and to make all sorts of semi-macro photographs of leaves-twigs on a long one, with a beautiful background blur; not to mention the ability to snatch objects from afar. The system as a whole is compact and lightweight, which is very convenient when traveling. The carcass has good ergonomics, there are no complaints about the battery, the screen lacks brightness a little in the sun - but overall approx. Lifeview is dull, in general you can use it, but the function is poorly implemented. There is a bun with control of the mobile phone via Wi-Fi, but there is no access to the settings, which is inconvenient. Autofocus is not the fastest, but I have static subjects, in general, do not care. The matrix - 24MP - is great, but at high ISO it makes noise, no matter what they say. Combined with a dark lens creates a problem with shooting at night. The pictures are heavy - you need a fast map. As a result, an excellent amateur camera for photography, a balanced solution for your money, then only a full frame)

Advantages: Photo quality Low noise at ISO 3200 (for home photos) RAW processing speed Dimensions and weight Built-in GPS
Disadvantages: LiveView braking Difficulties with the use of "Soviet" and other non-native optics Insufficient clarity in video and noise in video at ISO> 1000 WiFi is practically useless
Comment: Very satisfied. Photos from him are amazing even without processing: juicy, contrasting, clear. If you shoot in RAW (which is worth doing), then you can "develop" them very quickly in the free Capture NX-D (I have Lightroom 5, but I abandoned it, since the colors are not so natural, although it removes noise better). Up to ~ ISO800, noise is not noticeable. At 3200, you can still remove them and get a photo of decent quality (although> 1600 I still try not to raise it and, if possible, shoot in M at long exposures with stabilization in the lens). We took the D5300 with us on a tour. The weight and dimensions allow it to be carried everywhere with you. The kit lens 18-105 allows you to shoot distant objects (I left a separate review about it). The battery was enough for a day, although the GPS was turned on (so as not to forget where the photo was taken). To speed up the determination of coordinates, you need to download and periodically update A-GPS (http://nikonimglib.com/agps2/). It is better to turn off GPS at night so that you do not accidentally drain the battery to 0 (it was a couple of times). Pleases the 24MP matrix, which allows you to cut out a part of the frame (magnification up to 2 times) and get a clear picture. I tried to shoot with Kalinar-5N and Helios-44M lenses. Both give good per-pixel sharpness, but the first one zooms too much, and the second requires an adapter with a lens that degrades the picture (mine, Roxen, does not affect the sharpness, but the picture is exposed at aperture wider than 3.5). The inability to use many non-native lenses with adapters without a lens is a minus of Nikon (Canon and Sony are better with this), although not everyone needs it. I like the function of zooming in the picture in LiveView mode - it is convenient for manual focusing. I don't like the brakes when doing this, as well as when saving photos from LiveView. Uploading photos via WiFi sounds beautiful, but in life it is very inconvenient. The video turned out to be worse than expected: apparently, instead of reducing the frame to FullHD, it discards rows and columns. As a result, both sharpness is lost, and noise is noticeable already at ISO1000. To manually adjust the ISO in the video, you need to trick the menu.

Advantages: + Convenient menu! My first DSLR, I only use it in a fully manual mode, so I'm not used to it yet, the "circles" helped a lot + HDR works great + At high ISO, the noise is quite tolerable, you can take very good night shots + Good quality photos. Perhaps due to the lack of a low-pass filter + For my small hand, it is very convenient, although the little finger remains under the body, I got used to the weight pretty quickly + Wi-Fi. Convenient for remote control.
Disadvantages: There are no serious flaws, only if there is NO Live View. One of the advantages when choosing this camera was precisely the swivel screen to take pictures of bugs, but with such a slow focus and image construction, I think all bugs will run away. I'll wait until summer, I'll see how much it will interfere.
Comment: They write that the video is bad, but I consider it a side function of the camera and do not take it into account. I have never used it, if you need to shoot something quickly, it's easier to get a phone. The kit lens 18-55 VR 2 likes the lock button. For some time I used someone else's Nikon from 18-140 without blocking and constantly unwound it while wearing it. I don’t regret the money spent and I advise those who want to learn how to photograph. For those who take pictures in auto mode, you can see what is cheaper, the difference will still be invisible

Advantages: No low-frequency filter, fast matrix. New kit lens AF-P (much more successful than AF-S). Fits perfectly in the hand. Rotary display, GPS.
Disadvantages: If you take a sober approach to the choice of apparatus and make an informed choice, then in theory there can be no shortcomings. If there are flaws, then this indicates that your choice was wrong. Or just marriage.
Comment: In my opinion, it is an excellent camera with excellent characteristics. Yes, not for professionals, but let's not confuse people who shoot for themselves and those for whom this is a profession. And it is not the camera that makes masterpieces.

Advantages: They write that Nikon D5300 Kit does not shoot video well - it feels like they are writing about another camera. True, when I tried to shoot a video for the first time, there was no focus at all in the machine - only manual. I dug into the settings, set the autofocus to "continuous, tracking" and "auto" and it all worked! The focus works out when "hitting", "leaving" instantly, without any delay. The video quality is excellent.
Disadvantages: But in the passport, there is no such nuance, so people are soared and blame the technique. I tried to turn on GPS at home - no effect; Tried in the forest - the same thing, not a single satellite. Maybe you need to wait longer? Of course, it eats decently in search mode. Before that I used a Sony @ 230 Nikona viewfinder compared to Sonya - it will be smaller, but I shoot mainly through it.
Comment: Overall, the impression is good.

Advantages: Good matrix, Swivel screen, Fast processor - because of which the excellent speed of work, Wi-Fi (the ability to use a smartphone as a control panel), Quite a convenient menu - to which you quickly get used to, Well keeps the battery (I have a week - at 100 -120 photos per day - the battery is only half-discharged), Fast focusing on selected objects, Large number of lenses and accessories on sale
Disadvantages: It works slowly in LiveWiev mode (but I use it very rarely, I mostly take pictures through the viewfinder, and everything works very quickly there), You could have at least one more button to which you can assign your functions (the 1st is not enough for me), VR works like that it is not entirely clear sometimes it works out 100% and sometimes it just lubricates everything (I solved this problem simply by turning it off), Well, all the same, it seems to me that the price for it is a little overpriced
Comment: What can I say a good camera. Those who write that with whale optics, not very good pictures are obtained, but what did you want for such a price of the lens ?! - the lens costs only 7000r. - you first look at the prices for higher quality zooms and then say that the lens is bad - for its money it works out 200% (I have a kit 18-105 and I won't say that it is bad, if you use it wisely you can get gorgeous pictures). I also really like the presence of Wi-Fi, you can control the camera using your smartphone. But GPS, as for me, is an unnecessary thing that could not have been built in, I don’t think that many will use this opportunity (all the more, I’m sure that this will significantly increase the battery drain). In general, I give the camera a rating of 5, since the advantages greatly outweigh - not so significant disadvantages

Advantages: To all of the above reviews, I want to add and refute some reviews in terms of video shooting about the fact that the shutter speed values are cut there to 1/30 ... the video mode in its characteristics fully corresponds to the photo modes in terms of maximum and minimum values, for example, ISO 1 EV ( up to 25600), shutter speed up to 1/4000, etc., provided that this is not an auto mode (in auto mode, these values are cut off). The auto white balance mode often misses the mark in color rendition, but this is if there is anything to compare, but the auto white balance accurately reproduces the colors when shooting in manual mode. The clear advantages of this photo camera include a built-in Wi-Fi module and satellite positioning (for those who travel a lot and want to immediately share their photos over the Internet or transfer them via Wi-Fi, for example, to a smartphone or laptop.) the average cost of the camera itself is lower than that of Canon.
Disadvantages: The disadvantage can be attributed to 1) non-touch display (most importantly, this is for quick focusing with a finger on the desired area of the screen), (a new model with a touch screen Nikon D5500 has recently been released, by the way, 2 main advantages of the D5500 are a touch screen and an 820 shots versus 600 for the D5300, but it is about 35% more expensive than the Nikon D5300)) and 2) there is no second (monochrome) screen with shooting settings, but shooting settings are displayed at the bottom of the viewfinder and, naturally, on the Live View screen. but this mode slows down photography and display of the captured image, as well as slightly better minimum / maximum values in auto photo / video mode, but better when manually set than its direct competitor Canon 60D, as well as 3) shorter battery life almost 2 times (600 versus 1100 for Canon).
Comment: In general, if you figure it out, you can discover more and more new possibilities of this camera. And for picky photographers, an instruction is attached to the camera with a description of manual modes for shooting photos and videos (when shooting a video, autofocus works, unlike Canon 60D)

Advantages: Lightweight, convenient, functional, rotatable screen, built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, a large selection of different lenses and other accessories for this camera, a wide range of ISO, the best option in the price-quality category
Disadvantages: The raw live-view mode, after several years of work, is already covered in dust (although neat in this matter), one battery is clearly not enough, if you like the camera and the results of its work, you will have to fork out for the purchase of other lenses, a tripod, flash, filters, etc. etc.)) Everything worked out for me around 100t.r.!
Comment: Wonderful DSLR. Suitable for both a beginner, an amateur and even a pro. I bought this camera in 2014 for 33t.r. For 4 years of filming, he has already taken more than 15,000 photos. I switched to it from a soap dish, at first it was difficult to get used to it, but by trial and error in a year I learned to shoot on a staff 18-55 (2000 photos), I shot first with an automatic machine, and then slowly began to shoot more in manual modes. It was then that I realized how big the difference is between point-and-shoot cameras and similar DSLRs in terms of image quality. I use the RAW format all the time, because then I come across images that require processing or revision, after which the result is achieved even better. Which is not a shame and put up for sale. I use lightrum for processing. Then I bought other glasses - Nikons 55-300, 35mm1.8G and Tokinu 12-28, as well as a tripod, an external flash, a macro lens and other light filters. I use everything with success and pleasure. Everything is at work. Landscapes, portraits, macro photographs, distant objects, photo hunting are successfully obtained. I shoot outdoors and in urban conditions, in different weather, both in winter and summer. Even at -20, the camera performed well, only the battery charge quickly dropped. I tried to take night shots with a tripod, but this is more difficult, you need to buy another remote control. For long trips I bought a special. photo backpack from Lowerpro. Everything fits and it is convenient to carry photographic equipment with you. Fixed, wide and external flash used in work when shooting indoors and outdoors. I think the D5300 is an excellent camera, its potential has not yet been fully revealed, there is still something to work with), so I am not going to sell it. But I definitely recommend this camera! By the way, it is imperative to purchase a 2nd battery for it, since one is not enough, and several memory cards (I have 2 * 32GB).
