As an avid knitter, they gave me a Prym Maxi machine for my birthday. It is also called a knitting mill. This is a manual device - to knit a fabric, you need to twist the handle. Everything seems to be simple and clear, but not quite ... The machine can only knit with the front stitch and either in a circular, that is, a "pipe", or in a flat cloth mode by changing the direction of turning the handle. There are subtleties in the selection of threads - thin ones do not fit nicely, the canvas is too full of holes. Thick ones fit perfectly, but if the thread is not smooth, it clings to the hooks and stops the process. There are only 44 crochet hooks on the machine, which means that there will be no more than 44 loops, and this is when knitting in a circular fashion. If the canvas is conceived to be flat, then another minus 4 loops, that is, only 40. Thus, the options for what can be knitted are rather limited. You also need to make sure that the thread is free, otherwise the machine does not want to work, the mechanism jams. I spied on it in the internet - you can reduce the loops on it, but only along the edges of the canvas. Despite all these moments and nuances, the hat is obtained in 20 minutes! I knitted a sweater small in 4 days, of which 3 days I did the knitting by hand. In general, if you make friends with the machine, the thing is excellent.

It is necessary to get used to this type of knitting machines (mills). At first, I could not correctly dial the first row - I learned. Then it took some time to understand how to make sure that the loops did not fly off when moving to the next row.

For knitting a circular fabric, all 44 loops are used, for a non-circular fabric - only 40.
Knitting density is not adjustable. So if the yarn is too thin, the fabric will be loose; if the yarn is thick, the machine will not take it. If the yarn consists of several twisted threads, there is a possibility that one or more hooks will clamp it and the fabric will be with hooks.
So, from yarn "Mirage" (Troitskaya, 100g / 330m), I knitted two scarves and one hat at the mill. The yarn is too thin for a mill, in a knitted hat I was cool in winter, especially in the wind. Although the scarves were carried all winter and it was normal.
From the yarn of the same company "Camel wool" (100g / 200m) mitts and leggings were obtained.
And from time to time I knit cloths from Sofia Adelia yarn (90g / 50m).
In my experience, it is the yarn of such a thickness as the last two indicated, the most optimal. It is better not to work with thicker yarns.
