We decided to walk like that. !!! Chose Silver Reed SK840 on the basis that the preferred knitted garment should not be made of thick thread. The knitting machine is assembled according to the instructions quickly and without question, which is very pleasing. Connecting to a computer is also elementary (even a cockroach can figure it out). Some difficulties were caused by the software (I had to take special courses). Upon completion of the courses, almost unlimited possibilities in fantasy opened up to create your own ornaments and patterns, which then turned into real knitted things. Children themselves drew drawings on sweaters which they then knitted. The quality of the related items is great. The machine knows and can do what it was created for. The carriage is still a bit heavy to move by hand. I would like an electric drive but they are not there, they do not. It is necessary to look after the canvas, as the loops sometimes go away, but all this is quickly fixable. I don't know why, but the software is sold separately. There is not even a program with a minimum set of functions, and therefore, without it, you can only knit a flat cloth (there is no device for reading punched cards in the computer version) and therefore, without software, this very expensive "hardware" can be said to be disabled. A great thing for those who love to be an individual and are ready to spend time and a lot of money on it. There are also all sorts of additional carriages, thread changers. Also very wonderful.

Hello! For my needs and new ideas I decided to buy a Silver Reed SK840 / SRP60N double-loop knitting machine.
Yes, it costs a lot, but only she can realize my secret plans.
The car has tricks for installing fonts: you need to properly screw one to the other up to a millimeter.
Further, the most important thing for the knitting machine to be able to knit without jambs is the thread tension! Adjust the thread guide to feed the thread correctly. I say right away that most of the jambs are precisely because of this. For some reason, nowhere is it said about this ... Or just superficially ... (The winding of the threads in skeins must also be correct: rewind with the help of a thread winder or take them straight from the bobbins).
There are a lot of nuances, but they can be learned only in the process of work and on your own mistakes.
On a knitting machine, together with software, you can embody many ideas. There are many patterns, patterns and patterns already in the program. It remains only to enter the required dimensions.
The Silver Reed SK840 / SRP60N machine is smart, in the process of work you understand what you paid for.
The machine copes well with double jacquard. But I did not succeed right away: I had already broken a couple of needles. It's good that there were spare ones in the kit, and you can just swap with the extreme ones (for the time being).

I would also advise you to work correctly with weights, and if the thread is very thin, but hang up the seal so that the product does not fly off. It is also desirable that the table be heavy and stable, since when working with the machine, there is a strong wobble, if the table is like mine from ikea (the cheapest).

I am a professional tailor. Honestly, I thought for a long time what was more important to me: in addition to the already existing sewing machine, sewing machine and overlock, buy a knitting or embroidery machine. In the end, I stopped at knitting.
I chose between the new Silver Reed and the used Brother. Boo. Brother is brought from Japan, there is a person on one forum. Decided not to mess with b. at. and bought a new one.
The machine is excellent, the quality of the knitting is amazing. But the main disadvantage is the price. And the price is not only for the car, for everything you will have to pay extra and a lot of money. Knitting software is great, you can download and draw patterns yourself, BUT! - the program is not included in the delivery, you can buy it separately. Additional cards cost a lot of money.
The master tuner connected my car, my husband only coped with the assembly. To connect the machine to my laptop so that the program could see the machine, it did not work.
During operation, I only changed the needles, everything else without any complaints. First I put the car on the frame. Then I ordered myself a special table into which you can clean the car without removing the workpiece.
Of course the car saves time very much. What you knit for 2-3 days can be done by car in 2 hours.
Now, looking back, I understand that it would be better to buy b. at. Brother. Much more budgetary, so if you are thinking about a car, think again if you are ready to pull everything (software + carriages + setting + table or frame).
