We have been using this filler for about 9 years. The cat likes it. We do the same. There is no smell if you clean up the cat at least once every half day. The package lasts for 12-15 days. To save money, I completely change the filler once a month, the rest of the time I just add sleep as needed. Our cat is more comfortable if there is a lot of filler in the tray.
