Small dogs are sometimes even more susceptible to ticks than large ones (although it is easier to find parasites on them). If you ran into the tall grass, that's all. Therefore, I took the choice of an insecticidal acaricidal drug rather seriously. According to reviews, the leader, oddly enough, was a cheap leopard. I tried it, no complaints.
