Opinions from the Canon PowerShot G5 X
Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
Matrix 1 "and high-aperture optics, fully manual control for both photo and video shooting, 1080 / 50p video shooting, advanced control, decent image and video quality, interesting price
Disadvantages:
There is no microphone input, only one zoom speed in video shooting mode, you cannot screw on filters. In terms of overall performance (both at the electronics level and due to the size of the controls), it is inferior to the DSLR, although a DSLR with such optics will cost much more.
Comment:
We can talk for a long time about the advantages and disadvantages of the G5X, but the fact is a fact: very few people offer an inch matrix, a fast zoom lens, an additional viewfinder and 1080 / 50p shooting for such a price in a compact form factor. To a greater extent, I use this model as a video camera, since there is completely manual control over video shooting (WB, shutter speed, aperture, ISO) and picture quality excellent for this class even in low light. But if I chose it purely for photography, I would take the Canon G7X Mark II - the same as the "five", only without a viewfinder and video recording at 50 fps at 1920 x 1080, therefore it is more compact and cheaper. In general, I am satisfied with my camera. She photographs and shoots video no worse than household crop DSLRs of the level of Canon EOS-7xx, the zoom range is sufficient in most situations. An excellent alternative to a DSLR or mirrorless camera, especially when traveling and on location: you can walk around light, and not load a photo backpack. The disadvantages of such a replacement are a less capacious battery (but you can buy a second one), the inability to change the optics (tolerable), slightly reduced performance and smaller controls. But there is no need to clean the matrix from dust! Seriously upsetting in this camera is only the lack of a microphone input and the inability to screw on the light filter. And also a rather primitive application for remote control - its functionality is very modest.

Advantages:
Pros: Fast lens, very sharp at all focal lengths, decent zoom for a compact, excellent touch screen, good stabilization, very good video quality, quite compact, very good photo quality, even in low light ...
Disadvantages:
Cons: Small battery capacity
Comment:
Commentary: I was choosing between canon and sony rx 100m3, in terms of aperture, zoom and the presence of a touch screen, canon won. I don’t regret my choice, I have been using it for about a year, the camera is always with me, I almost stopped using the second camera (sony 77m2). The camera is small so no one does not pay attention to it, at the New Year's corporate party, in poor lighting conditions, excellent pictures were obtained, colleagues were surprised at WHAT WE SEE, If someone thinks that the camera of a modern smartphone is shooting no worse, then he is deeply mistaken, especially in low light, the smartphone is very inferior.

Advantages:
Small size, viewfinder, rotary display
Disadvantages:
Slightly overpriced
Comment:
I bought a G5X to replace the G12. First impressions are very good. From the pros: - less distortion at a wide angle - less noise - ISO 800 is quite working. - noticeably faster continuous shooting - bright electronic viewfinder - better video quality - double stabilization - WiFi with the possibility of remote control from a smartphone (with a picture on the screen and a zoom !!!) - a rotary zoom ring on the lens - large touch screen - charged by micro- usb cable. Cons: - due to the enlargement of the screen, the control buttons have decreased in size and their size has become smaller - there is no ISO ring and there is no button for selecting a spot exposure - there are no landscape and underwater programs - a relatively high price In general, it is a worthy continuation of the G10-G16 series.

Advantages:
Very convenient camera control. Full control over any shooting parameters (all command dials can be configured). Excellent rotary touch screen (it is also convenient to use it when shooting). Large, high quality viewfinder. Good quality photos and videos, in almost any environment. Camera design. High-quality case (luxurious materials - high-quality plastic and metal elements). Hot shoe! Lots of creative modes. And of course a fast lens! Availability of WI-FI and NFC. Controlling the camera from a smartphone. Convenient in-camera menu (professional camera settings).
Disadvantages:
Slow recording speed of RAW files in continuous shooting! 1 frame per second (and maximum two per burst). Long recording even on a high-speed card. The fastest shutter speed is 1/2000, which is often not enough, when shooting in sunny weather with such a fast lens (the camera has a built-in ND filter, of course, and it saves. But! ... Who knows, he will understand that there is no need to use extra glass ...Moreover, the working life of the glass inside the camera is unknown!) Therefore, I reduce the aperture in such weather. And that's it. Okay! No manufacturer support. For five years, there have been no improvements and a new driver in the camera. Which is strange for such a fancy and expensive camera. A bit pricey.
Comment:
The camera is clearly not for beginners. Newbies will complain about blurry photos and overly confused controls. Although you can shoot in the machine, which is pretty well implemented here. It will take an effort to figure out how to get a good shot. Overall, I am very pleased with this camera. And who does not shoot in RAW format, even more so. In JPEG, the shooting speed is good. Although the series is very small (about 10 frames), then you wait about 20 seconds while recording on the card. I would definitely recommend the camera for advanced amateurs and professionals, even with all the disadvantages!

Advantages:
dimensions, ease of management, appearance (classic). Japanese assembly, nothing backlash, no creaks. Decent chamber jeep.
Disadvantages:
non-switchable shutter and focus sound when operating the camera from a smartphone. The screen periodically goes out when you accidentally approach the sensor at the Evi (maybe it turns off somewhere, until I found it). Strap: indistinct plastic parts at the base of the lace, rubbing against the case. the price for "white" devices - from 40 sput in Moscow. a. Well, its repair is actually pointless, the thing, in fact, is a one-time - replacement of the lens at the officials - 24000. At the price of a new 35 at gray sellers.
Comment:
For the most part, the DSLR rests on the shelf, carrying it with me constantly is an unbearable enthusiasm for me. I needed an everyday camera that would be with me always. I chose between ryksa from Sonya and zh7m2 from Canon. Zh5ix won in terms of ease of management, which is critical for me.

Advantages:
Rotatable touch screen. Bright, fast and clear electronic video finder. High-aperture optics and 1 "matrix size allow you to get a picture much better than soap dishes and cameras in a phone. The size and weight allows you to take it with you more often (carry it in a jacket pocket, or put it in a small bag / backpack in a case).
Disadvantages:
Battery life. External controls cling to when trying to get / put the device in a pocket or a simple case (ala the same pocket). The cost is at the level of an entry-level DSLR / mirrorless (with whale optics).
Comment:
My first device after $ 150 soap boxes and cameras in phones. For the same money, it was already possible to take a DSLR / mirrorless camera, but I decided to abandon this idea (I was afraid that I would lie on the shelf and gather dust, because I would be carrying it around with me). Long chose, in the end the choice was between this and the Sony RX100 M3 / M2. I am still not sure if I made the right choice. But I decided to give preference to the touch screen and a large number of controls and chose Canon. At the moment, I am completely satisfied with the purchase. Now I read the manual and look at blogs on photography. I want to take a simple tripod so that I can play with long exposures. I bought myself an additional battery (on aliexpress for 700 rubles), now it is usually enough for a day (one was not enough, especially at the beginning). I also took a leather cover. Protects norms and the upper part of the cover is quickly unfastened. Of the minuses of the cover - access to the card / battery is blocked (you need to remove the lower part), plus the installed cover prevents you from folding the screen. So be careful when choosing a case.

Advantages:
We are talking about the next generation model -PowerShot G5X- Mark-2 wifi. I always wanted to bring high-quality photos from cycling trips. But for this, until recently, I had to lug a full-matrix DSLR. This camera, oddly enough, completely replaces it when photographing landscapes and simple subjects. With its weight and compactness, it is a great option for advanced travel photography enthusiasts. An extremely convenient option to control the camera from a smartphone and copy photos directly to a smartphone via WiFi. Combined with a fast USB-C connection, this allows you to almost never remove the flash card from the camera and do without a card reader. If there is a power supply via USB with the appropriate cable, then it is possible not to take the camera out of the case at all, downloading a photo and charging from the connector covered with a dense rubber plug. The ability to share photos right on the go using Wi-Fi and smartphones is simply invaluable. A large number of shooting modes is quite useful. Panoramic by itself, but others were also in demand. The optics are on par, although nothing else was expected from Canon. Very good for a free one and an analogue of Lightroom, which allows you to process camera RAW files.
Disadvantages:
The camera is not waterproof. The kit does not include a suitable dust and moisture protection cover. Nor is it in the corporate version. Finding one is a problem. The battery lasts, of course, not for 200-250 frames, but rather closer to 400 (without shooting with a flash), but it still differs sharply from the usual DSLR. At the same time, a branded spare battery is very expensive. You can, of course, use a proprietary device for powering from USB and, accordingly, from a powerbank, but the price of one, together with a proprietary cable, bites heavily. Inevitably, you have to look for solutions from third-party manufacturers. The video recording button is not very convenient. It is unnecessarily, in my opinion, recessed into the body and it is inconvenient to press it. Because of this, it happens that the end of the video fragment is blurred.
Comment:
Overall, the camera made a very good impression. Whatever it is, but most importantly, the quality of both photos and videos is at a high level. An analogue of a cropped mid-level DSLR with a weight and volume 3-4 times less.
