Olympus TG-5 Reviews
Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
1. Very compact and lightweight. The lens is built into the body and does not come out. In red, it's drop dead stylish. 2. Shooting in modern resolutions and frame rates: 4K 30p, 1920 × 1080 30p-60p-120p. 30fps gives standard footage, 60p for very smooth video, 120p for slow motion. 3. Optical stabilization. Works well at the level of a manual mechanical gimbal. Of course, the truth cannot be compared with an electronic steadicam. 4. Underwater shooting straight out of the box without additional priblud. It is possible to dive up to 15 m. This means that neither rain, nor snow, nor accidental drowning are terrible. 5. Anti-fogging when shooting underwater. When diving and emerging from the camera, the picture on the video will be clear, the lens will not "sweat". 6. Impact resistance. Withstands drops from 2 m height. 7. Built-in Wi-Fi. Together with a smartphone and a proprietary program, it is very convenient to upload footage to a smartphone, to the cloud, to YouTube and social networks. 8. Charge on the fly. Connect to any microUSB power source and continue shooting (except underwater). There is no need to take out the battery for charging. Any charger at hand with microUSBi will do. 9. UHS Class 3 SD card is required for maximum quality shooting, but in practice my HC, Class 10 SD card could handle the high data traffic load quite well. 10. Photos are definitely better than on my iphone 6s plus. Before that, I used the canon ixus 220 hs compact, but it probably loses in pictures. The video during the day and evening (not at night) is excellent. 11. Many other useful features: built-in gps, many presets, wide adjustment of the size / quality of video and photo shooting, macro photography, high-speed burst shooting, face focusing, rich editing capabilities and God knows what else.
Disadvantages:
1. Autofocus. For me it's slow. Rather, it is generally fast, but if the focus is lost, then it can take 1-3 seconds to recover. Autofocus failures are most often observed when zooming, both in the direction of approach and in the direction of removal, as well as with stabilization on, and can occur out of the blue. 2. When stabilization is turned on, a zoom effect occurs, which is not very convenient when the subject is close. 3. When using the zoom, background noise is muted and the noise of the zoom motor is recorded. 4. Sound is recorded on one channel louder than on the other. Correctable of course later in the editor, but this is an additional hemorrhoids. 5. In my case, there was one hot pixel on the photomatrix, it appeared when shooting video in the dark in the form of a static red dot without a stabilizer or flying with a stabilizer. Check the matrix when purchasing. In principle, this is not critical and can be treated with the mapping pixel function built into the fotik, which masks red dots. 6. Lack of a manual for the functionality of the camera. 7. Battery. Wi-fi, GPS, and time-lapse shooting consume battery instantly. Slow motion can only be taken when the battery is at full scale. With a scale of 2a divisions from 3x, slow-motion shooting does not occur and knocks down the fotik with a message about a low battery. 8. Matrix 1 / 2.33 ". Of course I would like 1" matrix as in Sonya's compacts of the DSC-RX100 series, with such a fotik would play in new colors. 9. Night photography is not a fountain. 10. The screen is not touch-sensitive. 11. Price, purely psychological. I took it for 24900r. Not transcendental, but for a compact with such a matrix it is somehow expensive in my opinion.
Comment:
Perhaps this is an ideal family camera for outdoor activities in the sun and water (sea, river, waterfalls, rain). You will shoot them excellent material in your home photo / video archive. I shot it, here is the link https://yadi.sk/i/WoyxzCKy3YP8uV or http://youtu.be/s04kha3hrBc Suitable for many other shooting scenarios, because has a lot of presets for all occasions and the possibility of manual settings. In my opinion, the device is least suitable for evening and night shooting of city walks, for such shooting, of course Sonya is preferable.

Advantages:
-Excellent quality of a picture of a photo and video -A solid durable case. -Real water resistance, i.e. you can really swim with it without consequences. -Fast focus, many modes, not confusing menu. -Very convenient location of almost all controls (almost, but this is a disadvantage).
Disadvantages:
Many buttons are made exclusively for a small woman's hand - the size of the case allows you to make the buttons larger, it is especially inconvenient to use the video recording button.
Comment:
In general, the device is very good, pictures and videos are at the level of top-end mirrorless cameras with built-in optics. But this is to be expected. Security is 10 out of 10. I will separately mention the SlowMotion mode - it eats memory like a dinosaur, but the result exceeds all expectations - even an amateur can get a super video without much effort ...

Advantages:
Unpretentiousness (shock and water resistance), short readiness time, high autonomy, many settings, low weight and dimensions
Disadvantages:
No viewfinder, no video stabilization
Comment:
I got it a year ago - in the summer of 2018. The device was tested in the Tien Shan mountains (Inylchek-Khan Tengri). The camera is optimal for shooting in difficult conditions: mountaineering, hiking, etc. It is really shockproof. I did not immerse it in water on purpose, but it is not afraid of moisture and does not fog up when it suddenly passes through the dew point. It is not afraid of temperature changes. Slots for a memory card and acc. have special sealed covers with add. lock - will not open spontaneously. The lens has double glass. Shooting quality is the top level of the "soap dish". Those. pretty decent for a camera of this size and price. The video shoots well, but there is absolutely no stabilization. Those. it is necessary to shoot from a support or in short scenes. As stated in the specifications: stabilization only with a photo. The readiness of the camera from a completely switched off state to the shooting of the first card 2-3 sec. Built-in GPS can be useful - it records the coordinates of the shooting location. But very much eats energy. You need to turn it off if you don't need it. The viewfinder would be very useful, in sunny weather nothing is visible on the screen. However, this is a common problem with cameras in this price category. The price dropped noticeably over the year.

Advantages:
Possibility to install lens attachments. Tightness. RAW (not used). Lightweight, small. Durable in appearance. Shoots videos and photos underwater. Macro mode works.
Disadvantages:
AutoBB is not very good. No shutter priority mode. The battery is not capacious - you need to take at least two. Yes, it is unexpectedly small in size. The zoom motor during video recording is recorded on the video with a hum, reminiscent of the distant whistle of a steamer.
Comment:
I bought it for underwater photography. It removes medium under water - mainly, even a slight turbidity of water affects. But the ability to take a camera into the swim is very helpful - many beautiful views can be captured. You can also shoot any shrimps and crabs in shallow water without fear of being flooded with water. This device showed itself best of all when shooting under shallow water (10-20 cm), observing from above, above the surface. But the display is poorly visible. I really liked that you can install the attachments on a regular basis. Bought a clip with a lens cap. On the beach, this is important due to the sand, and at the same time additionally protects the glass from scratches by foreign objects. If you can afford it for the money, then I highly recommend it for a vacation.

Advantages:
I'm not worried about dropping it or getting caught in the rain. Convenient, wide functionality. Very smart autofocus, quickly turns on.
Disadvantages:
The small size of the matrix certainly affects the quality of the images. Close up - everything is fine. And the detailing of objects farther away is shitty.
Comment:
February 25, 2019, Moscow
Advantages:
Can shoot underwater, can shoot slow-motion video, good image quality, good looks, many convenient modes, such as continuous shooting
Disadvantages:
Autofocus dulls for no apparent reason, there is no lens cap (unexpectedly for me, but this is such an idea), there is no long exposure mode, the moment of shooting does not exactly correspond to pressing (pressing) the button: if you half-pressed the button and wait for the required dynamic scene for shooting, you you will not get in the moment
Comment:
Nice model, but it looks like it is not brought to the point of possible perfection. I did not notice any particular problems with the amount of charge for slow motion shooting, although when shooting in slow motion, battery consumption does increase. But this does not prevent you from doing a dozen takes.
August 27, 2018, Moscow
Advantages:
4K underwater shooting at altitude does not fog up the lens smart menu compact-friendly grip powerbank charging microscope mode
Disadvantages:
no
Comment:
The camera is ideal for compact. The security is excellent. The battery lasts for a long time.
