At first I wanted a self-propelled lawn mower - so that the children could mow - but due to the fact that the area is bumpy, I stopped at the wheel trimmer. So far, I've only mowed a couple of times - the first impressions are very good - the weeds are mowing human-sized and not choking. 5 horsepower is power! To make the bevel smoother - I mow in two passes - forward - slightly on its hind legs - so that the grass does not wrap up, then back along the mowed - already close to the ground. If you do not start the grass, it will be easy to mow in one pass. 4-stroke engine - very cool - no need to add oil + not as noisy as 2-stroke - you can mow and listen to music on headphones.

Disadvantages: There are no drawbacks as such. If you really find fault, then it is heavy (35 kg), and the operating manual says that it is necessary to change the oil in the crankcase every 50 hours of operation - it is not clear why so often ...

Advantages: Engine power is enough for mowing 2 - 4 weeks of grass, winding a spiral of 3 mm. steel wire. The centrifugal regulator easily copes with the task of maintaining constant speed regardless of the load. Weight 30 kg. enough to withstand the blows of fate in the form of sticks, bottles, bags and not too large for a man in his prime. 4 mm. the line freely mows ragweed up to 8 mm in diameter. Easy to change, practically does not wear out on ordinary grass. The workmanship is decent. And constructive, and performance, and materials. High quality plastic, metal coating or zinc or powder paint. Engine nuts / bolts are metric (I was afraid of inch American). It showed itself well on the roadside mowing without gravel, on virgin soil with small slopes without potholes, on a slightly neglected garden plot with knee-deep grass.

Disadvantages: Not suitable for a well-groomed personal plot: For cutting trees - low maneuverability, high probability of damage to the tree bark. The spring of the emergency stop lever felt incredibly stiff after a couple of hours of operation. Holding the lever from the category of discomfort turned into a painful phase. Plus, the handle vibrates, and you have to constantly squeeze it due to the lever (although, for safety reasons, this is how it should be arranged).After 5 hours, the engine stopped starting: The emergency shutdown lever through the cable and the rocker switch off the engine with a limit switch, and the friction thrust bearing contributes to its quickest stop. The idea is correct, the execution is poor. The brake does not cope with its task, you can safely throw it out. The rocker presses on the limit switch not perpendicularly, but with a shift, tangentially. As a result, the limit switch broke. I had to redo it (change the limit switch and supplement it with a pressure lever).

Comment: Before buying, I thought to use it with a steel disc instead of a fishing line. The belt drive allows you not to worry about engine damage when a stone falls under the knife. But he did not dare - it is dangerous, it can turn over on bumps. And the steel casing needs to be done from the operator's side, and work without assistants on the horizon. With experience came the realization of the need to mulch the cut grass (and if we collect it in a composter, and if we leave it at the mowing site as organic fertilizer). It turned out to be possible. It is enough to put not one piece of fishing line on the hook, but two. And run into the grass with the right side of the mower, by reciprocating movements with a swing of half a meter to a meter, gradually turning the mower to the right, cutting a semicircle around you, tightening the mowed grass roller under the protective cover. With this mulching of thick grass about half a meter high, 5 hp. already hardly enough.

Comment: I think it suits the scenario well: we mow weeds rarely and a lot, on a relatively flat area, we are not afraid of stones and hemp, we do not collect grass, we hammer on a super-even lawn. Almost my scenario, but my site is very uneven, a lot of bumps and bumps. It's hard to push it over bumps. Where it is more even - you greatly rejoice in speed and power. Where there are more bumps - you grunt and think: "5 horses - could make a self-propelled one." As a result, it took 5-6 hours for ~ 20 acres of a very uneven surface. My legs are tired, my back is not at all. You push all the time with your back straight. Most of all pleases the speed and resistance to stones and hemp. For complete happiness, there is not enough self-propelledness and faster line changes. If you don't want perfect evenness and collection of grass.
