Denon AH-MM400 reviews

Advantages:
Deep crystal clear sound Comfortable fit Very pleasant to hold the headphones themselves
Disadvantages:
Non-standard cable slot
Comment:
After a good Creative Aurvana Live! 2 and excellent Audio-Technica in its own way, the ATH-AD900X experienced the wow effect of the detailed, but very musical sound of Denon. Especially the deep bass delivered: not hitting the ears, but lively and massaging. The headphones are positioned as "mobile", although I personally feel sorry to drag such beauty out into the street :) If you plan to listen to them from your home audio system, keep in mind that the cables included in the kit are about a meter long, and the landing socket on the earcup is of a non-standard oval shape.

Advantages:
+ the best sound I've heard + assembly, materials + sit comfortably + tolerant of mp3, not even with the highest bitrate. + good both with a hi-res player and with a smartphone with a separate audio chip.
Disadvantages:
Is that the lack of a cable for the hospital
Comment:
For me personally, these are the best headphones I've ever listened to (although I can't call myself an experienced music lover). In the store I spent 4 hours choosing, listening to models and twice the price. Very detailed, pleasant low, the upper ones open well and do not crush. Many tracks were revealed in a new way.

Advantages:
The Denon AH-MM400 headphones deliver great sound. Basically, I connect them to the HTC U12 Plus mobile phone through the native "USB C - mini jack" adapter with the built-in Cirrus Logic CS42L42 DAC. Audio material - in FLAC format. Subjectively, the sound is strong, juicy, elastic, with a deep soundstage. After the usual channel headphones or earbuds, a lot of nuances and semitones appear in the sound palette of compositions. In this case, the wow effect is guaranteed! Compared to other headphones in a similar price category - hardly. In addition, the combination of wood and aluminum captivates with nobility. This thing is pleasant to hold in your hands! The ability to fold the earbuds for listening to music on the go is also commendable.
Disadvantages:
Didn't reveal.
Comment:
As a summary: beautiful and stylish headphones with great sound quality to take with you on the go.

Advantages:
Sound quality Material quality Build quality
Disadvantages:
Oval headphone mini-jack. It will not be easy to find a new cord if something happens to the complete one. In addition, the second cord from the kit (without a microphone) does not fit the headphone jack in the shape of the jack, it was necessary to "modify it with a file", quite unexpectedly, given the cost.
Comment:
As soon as I took it in my hand, I realized that I was holding something special. The headphones are made of very high quality, the combination of wood and aluminum looks very interesting. Although you feel weight in your hands, they sit on your head very comfortably and weightlessly, it is absolutely unnecessary to get used to them, comfort from the first minute. In terms of sound, I note the following: the better the recording quality and the higher the class of the sound source, the more these headphones open up. Compared to the Sony MDR-XB500 (which I bought for ~ $ 100 in 2011): on the iPod Classic when playing ALAC files, the difference with the MM400 was insignificant. On the Cayin N3 and vinyl digitization (24/192), the difference between these headphones is already evident, Denon produces a much more honest sound and you can clearly hear that the source class is very mediocre, perhaps top-end Hi-Fi players will be able to squeeze everything out of them, there is no possibility verify. But in conjunction with a home audio system (Denon DP-50M + Denon PMA-390III), the headphones open completely, all facets of live sound, you get the full impression of being at a concert. After Sony MDR-XB500 this is a new stage of sound for me. It was these headphones that allowed me to step from CD to Hi-Res. Now my task is to choose a portable Hi-Fi player of the same class.

Advantages:
- The most important and bold plus. Pure surround, correct sound! - construction. I use headphones in my daily life. Where I just did not put them. I dropped it 2 times. But they have a couple of scratches at night. Sturdy and easy to store. - Headphone fit. I compared it with b & w p7, Sony and some more neormy models that offered me in doctorhead. Doesn't squeeze anything, very high quality and pleasant skin
Disadvantages:
- I don't like the microphone. Speaks from the phone is not possible. I have to speak louder. - not the best volume control. I do not use it. I add / decrease all the time on the phone
Comment:
I have been going with them for over 1.5 years. To the university, at home, when flying in airplanes (you can hardly hear the hum of an airplane in them when you watch a movie / listen to music), in public transport. Despite the two minuses, all the pluses cover them two or three times. I do not want to part with them + many pay attention to them and are interested in "are they really made of wood?" In general, if you are looking for headphones up to 30k with great sound, solid construction and good design, take it and even without thinking.

Advantages:
Clean, smooth, correct sound. Quite good insulation. Comfortable design and fit. Quality and reliability of materials.
Disadvantages:

Comment:
The perfect solution for portable listening to Hi-Res music with an appropriate playback source.

Advantages:
Great sound and appearance. Conveniently fold up. I mostly listen from my smartphone. They fit perfectly - they don't put pressure on the head and ears. They look 100.There is a storage case and a 6.3 mm adapter.
Disadvantages:
When I turned it on for the first time, there was no sound, I even thought it was a marriage. But then the headphones "warmed up" and everything fell into place. I also don't like the cable - it is flimsy, thin, like the earbuds. I wanted to immediately change it to "normal" in order to listen through an amplifier, but it has a non-standard connector that fits into the left earpiece. There is no analogue. But, while the sound quality and with this cable from the smartphone suits. There is also a bag with the headphones, it seems normal and I keep the headphones in it, but for transportation I would like a case with a rigid structure, but this is not important.
Comment:
I bought it after reading the reviews and did not regret it. In general, they are presented as a headset, but to carry such beauty on the street and in transport is blasphemy, and they are not adapted for this - they are too big. As a headset, they sound great with a sound source as a smartphone. There is even an additional cable with a microphone, but I have not even tried it. planned to use only as headphones. And everything suits me both the appearance and the sound. The natural sound does not add anything in the entire range, the bass is elastic, not booming and not bulging. The only important drawback is the constructive cable, which does not affect the sound quality, but does not allow replacing it with another, better one due to a non-standard connector, and over time it can become a problem if the cable suddenly breaks. And so, a great thing - I recommend it.

Advantages:
Clean, smooth sound! Incredibly comfortable fit, you forget what is wearing headphones in 10 minutes. Conveniently fold up. Incredibly beautiful appearance.
Disadvantages:
They are demanding on the sound source, fast rock compositions from a phone or laptop at high volume turn into a mess. When using an amplifier, the problem disappears.
Comment:
Awesome headphones, equally enjoyable to listen to orchestral music and American rap. Powerful and precise bass, mids and highs are smooth and fair. I recommend using with an amplifier. I am 100% satisfied with the purchase.

Advantages:
Sound, price-quality, appearance.
Disadvantages:
there are none Upd: There are some drawbacks. The ear pads are falling apart. That is, they do not wipe, but they tear and get off the earpiece. Poorly glued or rotten material is not clear.
Comment:
I compared 4 headphones in the store: Onkyo a800 Denon 400 Bose quietcomfort 35ii Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro For convenience for everyday use, I stopped at Denons and Bose. In terms of sound, the Denon is probably an order of magnitude higher than the Bose. The sound is amazing what to say. Violas are biting as they should be. The bass is soft and as much as it should be! Many producers like to kick the listener straight. Everything is clear here in this regard. The guitar is amazing. Put on some good music, close your eyes and you will feel like at a concert. In general, I "fell in love" with the sound from Denons, sound quality and a reasonable price. The combination of price and quality, in my opinion, is the best among competitors. Another plus is that the headphones look very beautiful externally.

Advantages:
- Design. The headphones look expensive and noble. - Ergonomics. Comfortable fit with a large degree of adjustment. Lightweight and relatively small in size for full-size. With prolonged listening, there are no unpleasant sensations, you forget about them. - Very good sound insulation. - Convenient to carry. Add up. Includes a carry bag. - They are universal in terms of the sound source - even a smartphone will easily shake them due to the low resistance - 32 Ohm. At least on the LG V30 + / G7, the volume headroom is sufficient. - Delicious warm sound with very expressive low frequencies. In general, a balanced darkened sound with a stage slightly removed from the listener. - Replaceable cable. For smartphones LG V30 + / V40 / G7 / G7 Fit with their step gain is convenient, because you can slightly raise the gain level, if desired, by inserting the cable first into the smart, then into the headphones.
Disadvantages:
- Price. It could have been significantly lower. 25-30 thousand. rubles is, in my opinion, too much. - The folding mechanism of the headphones seems a little flimsy for rough handling. A relative minus, but nonetheless.
Comment:
MM400 requires quite a long warm-up period. It seems to me that the sound of mine settled down after 5-7 warming up. Not to say that drastically, but high frequencies are cut through. Well, or my brain has adapted to their sound. Before the purchase, I had a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80Ohm and a Focal Listen Wireless. The sound of the MM400 differs greatly from them in the greater detail of the low frequencies. Besides, MM400 performs much better on sources of higher class. The difference in sound between the G7 and the xDuoo XD-05 on the MM400 is very noticeable. In general, in terms of sound, the MM400 is very tasteful headphones. I think fans of the darkened sound will like it. You should definitely listen before buying.
