Advantages: Unsinkable, work from AA batteries, memory cards up to 32GB, the ability to download satellite maps of different formats (moreover, you can turn on several maps at the same time, indicating which map is on top and which is below it). The presence of buttons (at low temperatures is relevant), and accidentally something is difficult to press. If desired, Russification can be altered for yourself, flexible track recording settings. Connector for remote antenna GA25MCX, mini USB, 4-pin power port. The function of hiding tracks, archiving tracks. Selection of preset operating modes. He can take a screenshot of his screen in the form of a photograph, then you can look at it on your computer.
Disadvantages: A bit heavy of course. The device is large, and the screen is small. Transfer data wirelessly only with compatible Garmin devices. The display brightness is disappointing (there is Vista HCx, it is much brighter, although older), the screen is dim. The font is too big, a little less and more information could be shown, and jambs with abbreviated and unfinished words would be gone. It takes a long time to load, especially if there are space images on the map.
Comment: It's a pity that the batteries cannot be charged directly in itself (but if you take out the batteries and connect it empty via usb, then it works fine). On the Internet you can find almost any accessory for it. When filling a record, it can be automatically archived. They could have added glonass to it like in GPSmap 30, it would have been nice. I did not find any push-button analogs for him in 2012. And you can praise, and there is something to fight. More precisely to whom.

Advantages: Convenient, reliable, durable.
Disadvantages: Small screen and screen resolution. But this is also a plus. It consumes less batteries, and this is much more important than a beautiful screen!
Comment: I have long wanted to praise my assistant!)) I use it for navigation. Sailing. Mostly in Mediterranean, for now). The device has already traveled with me in the waters of Greece, Croatia and Sicily. He became my irreplaceable assistant. Excellent rubberized waterproof case. Does not slide off slippery surfaces when the boat rolls. It is felt in the jacket pocket. It is convenient to use when it rains, gloves on hands and in general in extreme conditions. It is convenient to adjust the course relative to the wind along the track.I use the armature drift signal function. It really helped a couple of times. You need to take the time and deal with the cards. Find and install. The longest-lasting batteries are Duraselki. They live a little more than a day if the device is turned off when there is no need for it. Used batteries. But charging them in my case is problematic. I bought it, by the way. for 9t.r. In my case, the device has proven itself many times! All interesting travel!

Advantages: Stability of work, ergonomics (buttons on top), the presence of a barometer and a built-in compass.
Disadvantages: Although it floats, it is not 100% waterproof. Water seeps into the battery compartment and the protected USB and external antenna connectors.
Comment: This is my second Garmin to die in sea water. The device did not even fall into the water, it just lay on the deck of the kayak and a wave swept over it. As a result, at the end of the day, I found water in the battery compartment. Corrosion immediately began, which ate the contacts and the SD card located under the batteries. The device was under warranty. The store was replaced without any problems, which pleasantly surprised me. And yet: if you go to sea, it is better not to allow the navigator to contact with salt water. If you did bathe, rinse the device itself not only outside, but also check its "insides"

Advantages: I chose for fishing, fully justifies itself, reads the sailing directions (nautical charts), finds satellites quickly, is waterproof and floats, checked in a boat when he sailed in the cockpit for a couple of hours. Holds a charge for a long time, batteries 2700mAh.
Disadvantages: Large, the price is inadequate in comparison with the "stuffing" of the device, the usability is not the most convenient, there was a "bug" with waypoints, it was removed manually
Comment: The price for Garmin is inadequate, as well as for other manufacturers of travel navigators. China for some reason does not climb into this market, but it's high time, tk. the red price would be an analogue of $ 50-100, they would also screw the camera.

Advantages: raster support, excellent reception, well-readable screen in the sun, unlike a communicator, easy loading of maps, ergonomics.
Disadvantages: low screen resolution.
Comment: I bought recently, there was firmware 2.4 when the satellites were found, the device turned off. I registered on the official website, updated the firmware to 2.8, everything began to function perfectly. cards are uploaded by simple copying either to the internal memory or to a memory card, immediately uploaded a couple of cards, everything works fine. I also uploaded an aerial photograph, linked google earth, created a .kmz file and dropped it along with jpg into the custom map folder, everything works great. at first I also doubted about the top location of the buttons, but as I picked it up, I lay down like a glove! in general, I am 100% satisfied with the purchase!

Advantages: swims. As I understand it, this is his unique feature. By the way, somewhere in a mountain river it is better for him to drown. You can get it out of the water. And the floating device will be carried away by the river stream. And on the lake, yes. In deep water, buoyancy certainly rules. works for a long time from one set of batteries.
Disadvantages: The device is a little too big.
Comment: Recommended for anglers. Don't be scared if you sweep off the boat on the lake. If on a speech with a fast current, look so that it does not get carried away)))
