Advantages: I liked the lens very much: quite fast autofocus, reasonable price, low weight, workmanship and a great picture.
Disadvantages: The hood gets in the way a little when it sits backwards on the lens. Perhaps that's all.
Comment: Great macro lens! Excellent value for money.

Advantages: Excellent sharpness, excellent macro, the limiter helps with everyday shooting, can be used as a crop support
Disadvantages: Pretty slow autofocus, especially at full. You can't shoot macro in nature, only flowers, everyone who can crawl and fly does not like to pose from such a close distance. The hood generally blocks out all the light for him. A protective filter is very desirable, it is really scary to poke it so close to the subject during macro shooting.
Comment: I changed 35 / 1.8 to this one, I'm quite happy. A little narrower, a little slower, but a little more interesting bokeh and much easier to shoot the subject and macro. I use it as a standard one, it is almost as good as 35 / 1.8, and as a portrait one it is even more interesting. Threw all the inverted helios macro-Frankensteins and other industrialists on the shelf, most likely forever.

Advantages: Excellent boke, sharp macro, affordable price.
Disadvantages: When it is dark and the object is at an angle, the lens moves, then goes to the maximum and freezes. It happens rarely.
Comment: One of the best lenses from Nikon. I took it to Ibei at the end of 2016. It cost 13 thousand. Everything is original. This is the case when the low price does not affect the quality.

Advantages: Solid, sharp, moderately budgetary
Disadvantages: Unique manual focusing mechanism
Comment: The lens does its job perfectly. You can immediately forget about the supplied hood, because at a great distance the front lens is deeply recessed into the body, and on a small hood it will only interfere, shading the subject. The manual focus mechanism leaves an ambivalent feeling. On the one hand, there is a large stroke (almost 180 degrees), on the other, the tactile sensations are not very pleasant. The ring is tight, but it doesn't feel at all like the old metal nikkors. The resistance of this ring comes from the gears rotating inside, which whir and crack as they rotate. There is also a backlash of several degrees. At the same time, autofocus works great - almost silent, although not too fast.

Advantages: In general, everything is as expected: a good macro lens, the photos are juicy (both macro and portraits), with nice blur.
Disadvantages: It's not entirely clear what "semi-automatic scaling" means ...

Advantages: Ringing sharp (in straight hands), macro, price, bokeh
Disadvantages: Backlight chromatite
Comment: Say: sharp, or say nothing (after seeing the first pictures, I registered it in the staff for a long time). Good construction (strong plastic, solid assembly), despite the Chinese assembly. Very useful focus limiting selector (focuses quickly and accurately). With an open hole, the DOF is really small, but for people with a head it's not a problem, but an additional opportunity for creativity (you don't think a grenade is bad if it didn't explode in the hands of a monkey, it's just a monkey, it is a monkey, even with a grenade) ... A bit dark for rooms - flash is our everything. An amazing portrait lens (well, no need to complain about the focal length, everything does not fit into the frame - take a shirik)! All pictures closer than 3 meters are "side-by-side". If you are not going to shoot a home meal in a tiny kitchen, and it is too expensive to take something good (for example 30 / 1.4 sigma), or you basically need a Nikon, then the best option is 40mm / 2.8!

Advantages: lightweight, compact, sharp
Disadvantages: ? no stabilizer
Comment: I do not write a review immediately. The most affordable of all macro lenses! On the plus side, it has a built-in autofocus motor! For screwdriverless cameras - a dream! I photograph winter with this lens wherever possible. But it does well not only with macro. The portraits are exceptional with good bokeh and the subject is excellent. Stands on Nikon D5200 as a staff, I set the kit 18-140 from time to time, only when I shoot a holiday, family celebration (Birthday, New Year, Christmas, etc.). There is no stabilizer in it, which is probably sad. Although I never got any shakes on it! Frames are out of focus - often, only in low light or contrasting background. Does not introduce distortion (40 mm focus creates an angle close to the angle of perception of the eye). With active zoom with feet, it is quite possible to use it as a reportage. Silent autofocus with manual override! Again, the camera does not try to refocus if you manually bring the focus to a detail of interest. I post examples of photos here: https://yadi.sk/d/LuZVd_FAdqUDE I wrote about the lens in detail on my page: http://www.foto-boke.ru/af-s-dx-micro-nikkor-40mm-f2 -8g-ed /

Advantages: Photo quality, price, lens size
Disadvantages: They are not
Comment: The lens is universal. Macro shoots with a bang, the colors are pleasant, the bokeh is very beautiful. The sharpness and quality are striking - macro photos are simply magical! As for nature and buildings, of course, houses completely close up will not completely fit into the frame, but in principle you get used to this and already tune in to the correct frame from afar. It's easier with nature, because in most cases it can be cut as you like. In a dimly lit room, it is better to shoot the sport mode.By the way, it is also quite good and may well compete with the macro mode, if, for example, you are photographing a flying bee or a bird. In general, I am very pleased with the lens and recommend it to everyone, especially those who love and know how to shoot macro!

Advantages: 1. Picture quality and sharpness 2. The colors are pleasing to the eye 3. There is a possibility of macro photography 4. The front lens is set deep - with all the desire not to damage) 5. Light
Disadvantages: 1. Very inconvenient focal point for macro (you have to bring it very close to the subject) 2. Relatively dark (aperture with 2.8) 3. Do not use light filters, as the front part of the lens goes out when focusing (I could be wrong).
Comment: I used it for about six months and so far I made my best shots with this lens. The lens is very good in terms of colors and contrast, however, over time, more aperture optics began to be lacking, and the macro mode is only suitable for photographing static objects + I wanted a slightly wider angle. In general, it was decided to sell it and buy Nikon 35mm f1.8. But I later regretted the transition, since the 35mm 1.8 is significantly inferior in image quality. Therefore, if you choose aperture ratio, then I advise you to look towards the sigma art series.

Masyashkin Sashkin
Advantages: Excellent sharpness starting at 2.8 (for a portrait, that's it). He shoots the subject well. The architecture is sharp and beautiful. What pleased me without a back and a front was caught :) I also want to note a pleasant bokeh
Disadvantages: Autofocus prowls sometimes and so .. unhurried) But it does not need speed, but when it runs along the focal point, it pushes it for a long time. He shoots terribly landscapes, grass and leaves into mush, but this is not his element either. Well, about the hood, I want to throw it out right away, because it barely holds and dangles, and rarely catches hares.
Comment: An excellent lens for subject photography and portraits. Not a station wagon and not a staff member! He has his own mission in this world;)
