Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
Apparatus: looks good, good build, good screen, instant face scanner, amazing sound from external speakers. Keyboard Case: Excellent key travel, good keyboard for this form factor. DeX: the benefits of android in the desktop experience. You can use DeX mode without an external monitor (you can also use a monitor, max resolution - 1920x1080 60Hz) DeX has been thoroughly worked on - it is stable and suitable for everyday use. The option to automatically enter DeX mode when the monitor is connected works perfectly, it is possible to use the tablet at this time (or turn it into a touch pad - to taste). Many applications support right-click context menus (eg chrome). Linux on DeX: the image of ubuntu for samsung was prepared by canonical themselves, so it's hard to call it an artisanal mode - samsung got down to business in earnest. Visual studio code and intelij are installed out of the box, everything works well. In other words, we get almost a full-fledged linux. If something is impossible to do in regular DeX, then in Linux on DeX you have a full-fledged desktop linux in which you can do anything at all. Advantages over ultrabooks - the best lte modem (ultrabooks with a miserable old lte modem start at a price tag of 100 + tr), the best touch experience (and in general the presence of a wheelbarrow), a tablet / laptop (with a case), the possibility of SMS / calls (hardly with this size it can be used often, but certainly a good bonus), ultrabooks are lighter - they do not exist in nature (even with a case).
Disadvantages:
Not critical, but this information may be useful to someone.Tablet: oleophobic coating - absent or extremely poor, the screen - yellow at the corners, no fingerprint scanner, no visual ice indicator of events. Keyboard cover: kills all the advantages of a tablet, turning it into an ultrabook. No transformation options except one. Easily soiled. No ESC and media controls. Bad for engineers. DeX: maximum 5 open windows, few keyboard hotkeys, still unadapted applications (for example fb messenger), after 10-12 hours of operation the buffer service falls off (copy-paste stops working) - solved by rebooting. Linux on DeX: there is absolutely little RAM for the virtual environment, there is often a warning about insufficient memory and an emergency shutdown of Linux on DeX. Problems with setting up the Russian keyboard layout (in the end - set it up).
Comment:
I took it only because of DeX. It's been a long time since DeX was a baby rattle. I have been working in DeX / Linux on DeX for two weeks now (external monitor + bt keyboard, mouse) - the work is quite stable, after a little breakdown and getting used to, you begin to understand that the advantages of android (zero timegap upon waking, more native touch interface than Windows, native push notifications, clients of social networks, mobile chrome - does not eat up the battery and quickly falls asleep) make the device more flexible than similar on Windows (surface go, for example) - especially on the road. To sum up, s4 tab was able to replace the ultrabook for me personally.
December 30, 2018, Moscow
Advantages:
Excellent work with the stylus, tactile sensations from movements on glass, speed of drawing lines, handwritten notes, recognition of my scribbles - everything is super. The pen cradle on the book case is comfortable, and the case is also nice. The screen resolution is sufficient. The sound for the tablet is good. Flash for the camera - you can shoot papers in the shade. Assembly, tactile pleasures - everything is on top. A perfect compromise between screen size and weight, the shoulder does not pull. The elongated screen turned out to be no worse than 4k3, there are pluses for working with documents: in a portrait you can still type on the weight with your thumbs like 8 inches, with an open on-screen keyboard there is a lot of space for a document, you can open two applications one above the other, and they look normal. And in the landscape position you have half an A4 page at a scale of 1: 1, writing and drawing with a stylus is enough.
Disadvantages:
The screen is controversial, depending on the angle of inclination, the temperature changes, even with a slight deviation it becomes colder blue, and since the screen is elongated in portrait mode, and we hold or lie at an angle usually, it is noticeable that the screen is warmer at the bottom than at the top. Uncritical, but a test drive is desirable for artists. The fingerprint sensor on the tab s2 seemed to me a more logical solution, activated the screen with one-click unlocking in a second and you work. Then he pressed or knocked on the screen, then you stare at the screen for a couple of seconds like a ram, it doesn't always start up the first time. I set the auto-lock time to the maximum, so that less often. The button on the stylus always calls the application shortcuts, it completely covers the screen. The number of accidental clicks is large. You cannot disable it in the settings, I did not find it. There are applications that use the button on business, calling up context menus, but it is impossible to use it, shortcuts will pop out. Beautiful glass on the back - just a minute to admire on the way from the box to the case. I suspect an aluminum tablet would be lighter. I did not like the keyboard cover at all - it does not expand the possibilities of the cover-book, but kills the desire to use the stylus and tablet as a tablet. It is not convenient to hold on weight as a tablet, the keyboard sticks out because of the long spine, it is unpleasant to touch the buttons on the back, writing with the stylus "lying on the table" is worse because of the thickness, there is no mode with a slight tilt, only an undocumented funny, keyboard up. And also opening / closing it without installing the keyboard does not animate or turn off the screen. It seems that the developers thought only about the laptop mode, but typing on a tiny keyboard and poking with a stylus at the screen instead of a mouse or carrying a mouse with you is so-so entertainment only if you are an astronaut and they told you not a single gram or centimeter more. The buttons are nice though. Dexp mode is not bad with a human set of peripherals, it can help out in space. I see one real application - typing on an airplane with dense rows, where the laptop cannot be opened
Comment:
I would buy it again - rather yes. The cover with the keyboard is not. Feelings that everything is expensive, but perfect, as it was with tab s2 8.0, no.

Advantages:
1. An excellent, bright and super clear screen with rich colors and the ability to adjust the color profile according to your wishes / mood. The best screen on android tablets in general. 2. The ideal (for me personally) aspect ratio, at which it is very convenient to watch any media content, watching a video becomes a pleasant relaxation due to both the aspect ratio and the quality of the screen. 3. Getting rid of the fingerprint button. Convenient symmetrical frames, narrow, so that 10.5 inches fits into a relatively small body, there are no false clicks. 4. Excellent assembly, the device is monolithic, does not creak, does not play. Also, the tablet is very pleasant to hold in hands thanks to the glass back (I am a supporter of glass, not aluminum). 5. Very good stereo sound, for watching Youtube, movies, TV shows, fits perfectly, I never listen at more than 70-80% volume. 6. High-speed performance, speed of work, complete absence of lags, freezes. Samsung Experience is a very thoughtful and super user-friendly shell. 7. The battery life is excellent. A few days is easy, about 10-11 hours of screen in normal use. I recently took the tablet on a five-hour flight, started using it from the airport, then watched movies all the time, before turning off the battery showed 64%. 8. The pen is very convenient to use, but in my case, not for notes, but for selecting text, cutting out the necessary screenshots and further saving them or sending them to friends on social networks / messengers. 9. Fast charging. This is very convenient if the tablet is almost empty, but you need to go somewhere and take it with you. In a short period of time, you can recharge the screen for several hours. 10. Freedom of use and customization, which gives a top tablet on Android. Before that, there was an iPad Pro that I happily escaped after a year of use (solely due to the endless strange limitations of iOS).
Disadvantages:
1. Inconvenient keyboard cover (bought by pre-order). I didn’t like the keyboard, the bulkiness of the cover, in fact, you will have to buy a separate cover for flights. 2. The fact that at the start of sales it was possible to buy only the LTE version of the tablet I did not need. 3. Personally, I didn't get into Dex mode, for me Tab S4 is a tablet for reading documents, simple editing and viewing media content. A business tablet like Surface had to be made somewhat differently.
Comment:
On the whole, the device is very pleasing, it is extremely pleasant to use it, it evokes very positive tactile sensations. Strong points: image quality, large screen area in a small body, battery life, very good sound, pen included, fast charging. If you are planning to buy a tablet on Android, as far as I understand, this is essentially the only top solution of this level.

Advantages:
Operation speed, convenience, multitasking, DEX, charging speed, OTG, screen and just thoughtfulness of little things
Disadvantages:
Expensive, not enough high-quality software for the stylus, 2-4 usb-c ports would not hurt, Dex works only in horizontal mode
Comment:
I took it in a pair to a laptop, for work outside the workplace + for watching multimedia. Before him, I used the iPad Pro 9.7 for a short time (sort of like). I immediately liked the DEX mode, since it is the main feature of the device, applications open instantly, they work extremely quickly + you can safely keep 5-6 applications open at the same time and switch between them without problems. Will it replace a laptop? If you work with office applications, then probably yes, since everything is very convenient here, especially when using the keyboard and stylus (or mouse). It is quite convenient to work in the browser, and there is a feeling of freedom of action, like for a PC When working with several applications in DEX mode, the tablet heats up, but this is not so critical and is fully compensated by the speed of work Easily pulls the connected dock to which the charger is connected, SSD, monitor and a mouse with a keyboard, it's a pleasure to work. The sound here is simply gorgeous, on a par with iPPro. clear bass and very high volume, the sound does not seem flat and plywood Should I take a Windows 10 tablet instead? From my experience with Surface, I think that yes, if you have more serious tasks, as for example, I have software development and administration, for such purposes the android is not yet intended for such purposes. It should be noted that the tablet is very easy to make friends with many printers, naturally not necessarily Samsung. DEX itself repeats the desktop OS as much as possible, and maybe even surpasses them somewhere in terms of convenience, smoothness and especially the speed of work.If you choose between iPad Pro and Tab S4, then this is definitely the second, unless, of course, smoothness for you is not higher than functionality, capabilities and thoughtfulness

Advantages:
Good display Battery life Excellent sensitivity and accuracy of the stylus, therefore suitable for drawing. Build quality.
Disadvantages:
There is no fingerprint unlocking, and face and iris unlocking is complete bullshit. On the stylus, the button is located so that during drawing you accidentally press it all the time. Built-in unnecessary software that is imposed by the Samsung. The stylus holder is only in a case, which needs to be purchased.
Comment:
In general, the device took fire in order to draw, it is very pleasant to draw on it, the stylus reacts to tilt, accurate, sketchbook applications, artflow work great with it. An unpleasant moment with a button on the stylus, but I seem to have got used to it. I don't play powerful toys, I can't say anything here. The print is not enough, I want to quickly unlock with one touch, but here there is no such possibility, first press the on button and then aim your cabbage soup at the camera, it's easier to enter a pin. Any unnecessary software constantly offered to update itself, then use it, I had to get confused to turn off all this stuff)) The sound is solid, but nothing more.
December 16, 2018, Moscow
Advantages:
Working with the stylus and the stylus itself in the first place. It is very convenient to write on the off screen (I had the same opportunity in the Note, but it was inconvenient there - both the stylus and the screen are small, but here you write like a pen in a large notepad. And the text is recognized quite well) Good battery life - a very tenacious battery I charge every day. A keyboard cover, now there is no need to carry a computer with you, an excellent keyboard, the size is smaller than the standard one, of course, and there is no backlight, but still typing is much more convenient than poking on the screen.
Disadvantages:
DeX desktop mode is buggy, I didn't like it. Not all programs work correctly, there are some problems with language switching. To be fair, Samsung warns that this is a beta version of the program. You can configure that DeX does not turn on when you connect a keyboard, then everything is ok! The cover with the keyboard is thick and heavy
Comment:
Quite a workable device!
December 12, 2018, Yekaterinburg
Advantages:
-Excellent screen -Easy stylus -Excellent to recognize handwritten text and translate it into print -Light and small (compared to 13 "ultrabook) -High speed
Disadvantages:
- In DEX mode, you cannot open 2 Word documents at the same time - Normal office - paid! - Android restrictions on multitasking
Comment:
Great tablet! The first such device was personally in my use (before that there was a 13 "ultrabook-transformer on windows). Since the beginning of use, I was struck by the lightness and compactness of the tablet compared to a laptop - the tablet is very light and convenient. In general, I liked everything (except for the price :)! A good stylus, an excellent screen, drawing and handwriting capabilities The most important option for me was the keyboard included (by pre-order - for free), because the tablet was taken to replace a laptop as a light and advanced notebook with the ability to edit simple office documents and I can also note that the guys from Samsung have improved the software well in terms of handwriting input and recognition - it is convenient to write text with a stylus and then recognize it. I began to actively use handwriting input. Conclusion: the tablet fits perfectly into the next use case: a device that is always with you and allows you to take business notes / notes, edit text in a Word or a powerpoint presentation, work with mail. Well, watch movies, search for something on the Internet.
November 9, 2018, Moscow
Advantages:
Monolithic body, does not hold together or backlash. A good stylus, fits comfortably in the hand. Dex mode. Good sound from speakers. Connector 3.5.
Disadvantages:
Unlocking. Light sensor. No updates have been released since December last year, not even security updates.
Comment:
For me personally, there are some points that are annoying during use. Unlocking by face and iris is more for show. In the dark and in the backlight, it often does not work. Could have made a fingerprint scanner in the power button for such a price. Samsung has its best practices. In a cheap J6 + or S10e, it works in the power button. The light sensor does not always work, especially noticeable in the dark. When you turn on the tablet from sleep mode, and it turns on the display at high brightness (not very pleasant to the eyes). This is repaired by removing the auto brightness checkbox in the notification curtain and setting it back. Then the sensor is triggered and the display sets an acceptable brightness. It is not clear why they made the camera and sensors on the short side of the tablet. When working with it, in most cases it is more convenient to use it in landscape orientation. Then the camera would be in front of the user. I liked the Dex mode and the multitasking windows. It is convenient to work with a mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth as with a small laptop. The tablet easily pulls SSD drives and 2.5 Tb drives from WD. It is upsetting that for half a year there are no OS updates, they don't even release security updates. Although they regularly come to Samsung Note 8 once a month.

Advantages:
Performance and color rendition are very good.
Disadvantages:
No.
Comment:
I bought this working machine, since the old one was already 3 years old. I don't like apples, so the choice was clear right away. For me for work, a quick non-buggy tyrnet, movies for a trip, etc. accordingly a good battery was needed. The tablet met all expectations. Very cool, I recommend it. The price bites, but if you compare with an apple, at a level even lower.
January 10, 2019, Moscow
Advantages:
Large high-quality screen, performance, stylus, sound. And you can use it like a big smartphone, in fact it is. In dex mode with a keyboard case - like a netbook.
Disadvantages:
Heavy, there is nowhere to remove the stylus, I would like the case as in laptops. The quality of the camera is poor, the photos are like those on cheap smartphones, the photos are blurry and noisy indoors.
Comment:
The tablet, although expensive, is worth its money. The pen with its capabilities will be appreciated by artists and designers. Powerful, solid, good battery, high performance. Good quality sound. Of the minuses - weight. It is heavy because of the glass. For half a year of use, the on / off button began to get stuck, but it is the main one, and you can't restart the tablet without it! And this despite the fact that I use it carefully, I wear it in a branded case that unlocks the screen when the lid is opened, and there is no need to press the button again. Photos and videos are of poor quality, only in summer it is normal outside, suitable only for video calls. Recently I updated to 9 android, and I didn’t wait, since I bought it, it was updated only once. It's cool that you can even use it as a large smartphone, if necessary, make calls, write SMS, etc. especially since the advent of wireless headphones, it has become quite convenient. I called once when I forgot to charge my smartphone, and it passed out unexpectedly. There is unlocking in the face and retina, but in life it is faster to dial a pin, because it works slowly, you need to look at the top of the tablet, they scan you for a long time and in detail, make a decision, and then decide whether you are or not. During this time, you can have time to enter the password twice. Upset that office applications here work by subscription only, in smartphones they are free. I had to search and install alternative office applications. In general, I recommend that the tablet will last a long time, reliable.
