Good as a standard one and for a genre, but for a genre (portrait) 35mm is optimal - there the geometry is better. Optical quality Canon EF 28mm f / 2.8 IS USM - Canon EF 24 mm f / 2.8 IS USM - Canon EF 35 mm f / 2 IS USM at the same level, the difference in focal quality - hence the requests for whoever needs it. Alternatively, take a look at the Canon EF 28 mm f / 1.8 USM (slightly cheaper but also slightly lower in optics)

Comment: The lens has a solid construction, pleasant weight and dimensions. It can be used as normal on crop cameras, since its focal length value almost exactly matches the matrix diagonal value. It should be noted here that with its f / 2.8, but cropped, it already has a fairly large depth of field and I would like to have either f / 1.8 or f / 2.0, but this is still a landscape landscape to a greater extent and is designed for a full frame. On the 5D Mark III, it behaves in an excellent manner. Did not carry out the adjustment. When shooting landscapes, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. Sharpness characteristics are very high, practically extend across the entire field, only in the very corners sliding to acceptable, but still good enough (only if you start to conduct a uniformity test, then you will see what you wrote about outside the parentheses. Aesthetes can simply crop to approximate 30 mm and then if they will print 30x45 cm or more). I specifically bought this lens, and not the EF 24 / 2.8 IS USM, since the latter blurs the corners a little and with large print formats I still have to make a certain crop to the conventional 26-28 mm. Would recommend first of all to landscape lovers and to those who want to have a normal lens on a crop camera with excellent sharpness and not so much money.

Comment: Compare with Canon 28mm 1.8, Canon 35mm 2, Canon 40mm 2.8, Sigma 24 1.8. The option is full of compromises. Contrast higher than 28 / 1.8, so less suitable for portraits. The picture resembles 40 / 2.8, but the angle of view is wider, more interesting. The "gray" delivery of this lens at an attractive price, which was decisive in my case.

Advantages: PERFECT BODY ON CROP. Fast autofocus and quiet (twice as quiet as 50 f / 1.4), dense, front lens fixed, ...

Disadvantages: Backlit chromatite, but very weak. With a backlight at 45 degrees, there are exposed areas and a couple of birds with one stone (I think the hood should help) With a direct backlight, everything is worthy. Remember that these are critical shooting conditions for any lens!

Comment: I bought it today for 18,500 rubles. on Avito. The seller wrote that the lens is new. At first I was looking for a catch. in stores cheaper than 27,000 can not be found. The lens turned out to be ABSOLUTELY NEW - virgin lenses without a speck of dust, not frayed contacts on the bayonet, a complete set, though bought in America i.e. no guarantee. P.S. satisfied to the point of insanity.

Advantages: Compact, lightweight, sharp, stabilizer.

Disadvantages: Someone says there is not enough luminosity, but it is always not enough, and so - everything from the tasks set. They say there is still HA, but this is easily fixable in any editor. Blanda is not included, but a native road to the lens, it's good that there is an opportunity to purchase a Chinese analogue. Price ... But you always want something better and cheaper ...

Comment: The lens is lightweight, compact and sharp. The stabilizer really holds 3-4 stops and perfectly helps to get rid of macro smears on cameras with multi-pixel matrices. Fast and accurate autofocus. On a cropped camera, it becomes an excellent stock lens. The lens is great in reportage and street photography, it behaves well when shooting with wiring (the stub distinguishes and adjusts such shooting). The lens performed well when shooting small objects, blurring the background is not bad. Even a portrait with this lens will work. I recommend it to fans of street photography and reportage photography, landscapes, fans of flower photography and those who want to have a normal standard prime lens on a crop camera with excellent sharpness and stabilizer.
