Opinions from the Canon EOS 77D Body

Advantages:
Fast and accurate autofocus, light enough, excellent build quality, 2 types of menu display, the presence of an upper LCD screen, a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth button on the back panel.
Disadvantages:
Few editing functions inside the camera, but this is more of a nitpick.
Comment:
Bought in pair to 70D in June 2017. Therefore, I will compare with her. I don't always have time to change lenses in rapidly changing conditions. And sometimes there are conditions when it is not better to remove the lens: dust, rain. The camera is suitable for both beginners and advanced users. In my opinion, there are no extra functions. The plastic is of high quality and pleasant to the touch. My hands don't feel a big difference in grip with the 70, but the difference in weight of 215 grams is felt well. 540 grams versus 755 grams. Turns off after 10 seconds saving battery. The button for enabling video recording is to the right of the eyecup, and switching to the “Video” mode itself is to the left. You won't be able to accidentally switch like the 70D.There are 2 types of MENU display in the camera, including the quick menu (Q): standard and for beginners in color with visual tips in the form of pictograms. The color of the standard menu can be changed for your convenience. The camera has a function to retract the lens trunk when the camera is turned off. For example: the proboscis of a Canon EF-S 24 mm f = 2.8 pancake that slides out when focusing. Now the camera prescribes in the menu and allows you to correct aberrations not only for Canon lenses, but also for Sigma lenses. I don’t know about the rest, since I have no other firms. With my Sigma 150-600 mm f = 5-6.3 DG C, the 77D focuses much faster than the 70D. When filming flying aircraft at MAKS 2017, I did not observe yaw. Autofocus is tenacious and accurate. With a shutter speed of 1/2000 seconds and in the "M" mode, I took about 2400 shots and the battery was still half charged. Shooting through a 3 ”monitor, the 77D also focuses noticeably faster than the 70D. Does not work with Kenko teleconverters. Writes that there is no connection with the lens. The 70D works though. When working with a Sigma 150-600 mm f = 5-6.3 DG C lens and a Sigma TC-1401 teleconverter, the 77D has autofocus at its entire focal length with 1-point focusing. Autofocus is slow. All types of shooting are available. There is no autofocus on the 70D.

Advantages:
good Japanese build, 45 points of autofocus, electronic and digital stabilizer for shooting video, rotary display, electronic level, second display.
Disadvantages:
I didn’t notice, maybe… the power button goes a little hard… But this is new, generally I rarely use it, only when I remember what is needed, probably? programmatically clean the matrix with a general shutdown of the device.
Comment:
works with Kenko c-af-2x teleconverter at all focal lengths paired with 18-300 lens in good light. From 20 centimeters to 4 kilometers you can take pictures of many interesting things. And there - the pens began to shake after 150 mm (the tripod helps out) or the warm air from buildings went, smog, night came - this is the case, you can't predict everything ... Before that there were cameras olympus camedia e-20p, a sony soap dish. I got hooked on the canon with the PowerShot A520, I gave it three years ago with a microscope. I liked Canon PowerShot G9 (recessed), Canon PowerShot A560, Canon 350d are functioning perfectly and now. There is a Canon 1300D. The most well-traveled option for a long time was the Fujifilm FinePix S9500 with a focal length of 28-300, an unkillable model still alive today. Not an adherent of professional cameras. The difference in an industrially printed photograph, 20X30 in size, taken on a professional or on a 1300D, can hardly be found if the device is properly configured. So the question arises, why buy this miracle if there is such a great set? 1.In the 77D, the swivel screen allows you to shoot in different positions (even a selfie, even from the pavement). 2. Optical and digital video stabilization with a large number of focusing points for walking is an irreplaceable thing. Therefore, the choice fell on the 77d and Canon 200 D. The latter, with the same DIGIC 7 processor (as in the Canon 6D Mark II), has a 9-point focus and optical video stabilization. The Canon 800 D is completely similar in software to the 77D, the fundamental difference is the absence of a second display. 3.Electronic level can reduce the number of cropped photos. 4. The second display is sometimes necessary both day and night. Now the 1300D has a 10-18 mm lens, and the 77d has 18-300 mm. I believe that it is more interesting and better to shoot with lenses with a smaller spread of focal lengths, a large number of optical elements ... Only for this you need an additional roomy backpack ... So this unit fully met my expectations.

Advantages:
Good dynamic range, convenient control system, two displays - the top LCD simplifies operation and lengthens battery life in the field. Lightweight, not only in relation to the older FF models, but also to earlier classmates and "younger brothers" such as "Sony 350", 58, etc. Quite working ISO 1600 and 3200, about 400 and 800 at 24MP can not be said. Very fast and accurate AF, even on third party lenses. But not at all - "long" zooms of the type 18-200 from Tamron and Sigma 77, I do not like it and regularly smears it))) As a portrait camera for outdoor shooting, it is unusually good. Flexible, far-reaching RAW.
Disadvantages:
1. There is no AF microadjustment for individual glasses, therefore, mistakes in the back and front are corrected only by shooting a series of 3-5 frames. 1a. There is no on-the-fly metering mode switching, only through the menu. Not particularly critical, but it would be very useful, since the camera is good just as a "field" or reportage, and not for studio work. 2. The electronic level is weakly functional, that with Live View, that (especially!) In the viewfinder, in contrast to the same Sony A77, with a neat, switchable 360 graduation over the picture in full screen. Perhaps they will fix it with firmware. but hard to believe. 3. The video recording in FHD hangs !!!! Having recorded a 4 gig video, you can wait a long time until it writes to a memory card (SanDisk, 80Mb / s, all the cases), or reboot "hot", pulling out the battery, and lose the recording. But it was not taken for video, alzo - figs with him, it will do well. 4. The battery capacity could have been more. 5. With large contrasts of lighting, in the morning and sunset twilight, it is confused with exposure metering, and can fail the simplest scenes in shadows and highlights. But it stretches out very well from RAV. 6. AWB noticeably pulls in the "warm" side, but this is more a plus than a minus. Those. - for an amateur
Comment:
A good picture, in comparison with 60D or Sony A58 - just heaven and earth. Not FF, but high-quality glasses are needed for it - it literally does not forgive whale and budget zooms, turning shooting into a lottery. On high-aperture - fast as lightning, sharp and beautiful in colors. With all the advantages - a starting chamber, on which you really begin to feel the disadvantages of budget carcasses and glasses. That is, not that "raw", but just a little bit missing here and there to the ideal)))

Advantages:
- Thanks to the DIGIC 7 processor and a sufficient number of pixels (24 of them), the picture produces stunning and unrealistically large resolution. Don't forget that the quality of the picture depends on the lens as well. My 77D is paired with a Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM lens and the picture pleases the eye. I say this as a person who has been working with photographs for over 5 years. - 45 points of autofocus. Here you can praise the camera forever. If, for example, Canon 600D has 9 of them and the maximum that you can choose is either focus by one point, or automatic, then Canon 77D allows you to focus by zones. Due to this, there will be much fewer mistakes, and much more opportunities appear. - Such goodies as a rotary touch screen and wireless access points (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) also cannot be ignored. The rotary screen is convenient because if you need to shoot a scene, but for this you need to shoot somewhere higher, but there is no way to go up, then in this case you can raise the camera up and turn the screen towards you, so you will see what is happening on the screen of the camera. You can send the resulting photos via Wi-Fi or Bluetooh to your PC or mobile device. - The second screen and 2 control dials are very handy. Using the dials, you can adjust the shutter speed and aperture value, and the second screen from the top can immediately show you all the basic settings of your camera.
Disadvantages:
I just didn't like the fact that when you move the shooting mode wheel, you have to hold down the button inside this wheel (so far it's inconvenient for me, but I'll get used to it over time)
Comment:
We bought a camera to replace the good old Canon 600D. It is not very correct to compare these cameras, because one is designed for beginners, and the second is for an amateur. I can only say one thing - if you already have a 600D, 650D or something similar and you want something new, then 77D is for you, definitely!

Advantages:
Lightweight, compact, wireless, with optical stabilization
Disadvantages:
Using wireless connectivity quickly depletes battery power

11 January 2018, Moscow
Advantages:
Excellent quality of shooting, in night conditions, well, you rarely need a tripod. Swivel screen with touchscreen, the camera is comfortable to hold. The colors are pleasant and natural.
Disadvantages:
The lens is the wildest dust collector, but nothing is visible in the photographs, it's even amazing. The viewfinder does not compensate for vision and in general the picture is different after the photo - use the display. Focusing is sometimes oblique and aims xs where, but the main thing is not at the object (although you can click on the screen and you're done). But even so, the pictures are quite excellent. You cannot cancel autoflash in modes, which is very annoying.
Comment:
For the sake of completeness, you should completely ditch JPEG in favor of RAW
