Opinions from the Canon EOS 7D Mark II Body
Yandex.Market data
Advantages:
ADVANTAGES: 1.Ergonomics and body 2. Autofocus (dots cover almost the entire area of the frame + tenacious even in dusk) 3. AutoISO with the ability to influence the exposure value 4. Color rendition 5. Adjusting the zooms (at both ends) 6. Rate of fire 7. Pleasant shutter sound 8. Dust protection 9. Tracking autofocus during video shooting 10. Information output on almost all shooting parameters in the viewfinder (even a level). 11. Two memory cards (CF and SD)
Disadvantages:
DISADVANTAGES: 1. The battery eats well (in real conditions, no more than 600 frames) 2. Still, the matrix is noisy, after 3200 grain is already noticeable, nevertheless 1600 is fully operational 3. The dynamic range could be wider. 4. PRICE !!!
Comment:
This is Canon's best crop camera in the crop class. In my practice, there were many Canon cameras, starting with the Canon EOS 400D amateur crop. So the evolution of crop-class cameras took place on my personal experience. BOTTOM LINE: Best crop camera. And, those who take such a camera usually don't read the reviews, they just take it. And all the arguments about which is better to take ff, which is cheaper, are simply pointless. If you are a reportage or wedding photographer, take it as your primary or secondary. With 6D and 5d3 it will work perfectly. And for amateurs and beginners, maybe it's better to take something simpler + a good lens. The camera is tailored for the pros. Heavy (990gr), difficult to master, if the first camera, and very, very expensive. I did not regret at all that I took it, although I also have an FF camera from Canon in my arsenal. From personal experience I can say that cameras from Canon are very reliable, especially cameras from Prof. class with dust and moisture protection, to which the Canon EOS 7D markII belongs. The price tag is now, of course, a horse, but it's all because of the damn green course ...

Advantages:
I will only indicate those parameters that were important to me when buying + Excellent intelligent autofocus, just for the sake of it it is worth considering the purchase of this camera. + Using fast CF flash cards, paired with a regular SD, can be used both in pairs or separately. + Very fast continuous shooting, almost endless. + The ability to use my remaining lenses 17-55 F2.8 and wide-angle 10-22, and for shooting birds because of the crop matrix, the universal lens 70-300L is enough for me, in the case of 6D I thought about 100-400, which would be single-tasking.
Disadvantages:
For me they are not, of course, I would like to have a rotary screen in some shooting situations, but here rather Canon relies on the solidity of the body and the reliability of the entire device as a whole.
Comment:
For me, the camera was a great addition to the Canon 6D. The camera definitely evokes more emotions from the resulting bird shots, various techniques, quick reports, thanks to the 7D Mark II autofocus, albeit subjectively, it focuses much faster and more accurately with macro lenses (100mm F2.8).

Advantages:
ISO 1600 is quite acceptable for shooting and subsequent printing. ISO 3200 for reporting in difficult conditions is quite enough for spreading on various web resources. There are no unsolvable problems for auto focus, there are many settings for filming of any complexity. Auto focus points all over the frame. Fast switching of focus areas. The viewfinder displays everything you need for quick shooting without interrupting the process, even there are levels! With STM lenses, it's a pleasure to shoot video with fast, flexible focusing in Live View. In addition to the high working ISO, the manufacturer also remembered the color rendition. And also other advantages of professional cameras from Canon.
Disadvantages:
The dynamic range is too small. The battery is frankly weak or the camera eats a lot. When the lens stabilizer is on and the video is shot, it sits down indecently quickly. No 4K video. Perhaps there are still no fashionable features like other manufacturers, but this does not bother.
Comment:
It makes no sense to compare this camera with FF cameras. It has pluses and minuses from which you can't get away. This is one of the best crop cameras that has no competitors for this money (Nikon has more expensive and some troubles with auto focus, judging by the reviews). 7D is more versatile than others thanks to its new auto focus module, shooting speed and buffer size. I have been doing photography for about a year and at first it was hard to cope with the camera, but after studying the instructions with a magnifying glass, everything went smoothly. A strange choice for a beginner, but a fast camera was needed to grow. The camera has fully justified itself both for photographing a family and anything that can be photographed. If you do not plan to photograph something fast and do reportage, for the same money, it is better to take a 6D or 80D.
17 August 2016, Gatchina
Advantages:
A lot of them. 1. Focus 2. 65 focus points and all cross-type! 3. The processor is super. 4. Workers iso 6400 5. Even more convenient control, it would seem much more convenient, but there is where! 6. Flickering light function 7. Dust and moisture protection. And you can list more :)
Disadvantages:
Is that the price.
Comment:
I use it for a little over two months. The camera never ceases to amaze. Management is a real pleasure. Everything is convenient and fast. The autofocus settings and its "tenacity" when guiding the subject are delightful. Workers, high iso, which was lacking on the 7D. Decent picture in camera jpeg
March 25, 2015, Moscow
Advantages:
The owner of this device has only a few days, but now I would like to announce the amazing work of Canon engineers. 1) Focus - lightning fast with good L lenses. Even if this is not the fastest L lens, for example, with a 100 2.8 L macro (many times faster than on the brand). A lot of precise settings + tracking autofocus. 2) The function of compensating the blinking of the light source is a very cool thing for fast bursts in rooms with certain light sources. 3) Series is not a camera, it is a machine gun. The new processor is very fast. With the right map, you can make fast beautiful streaks so as not to miss anything. 4) ISO - level 5d mark3. 16,000 - working with noise reduction when converting from RAW. 6400 looks like 1000 on 5d mark2. It is possible and higher, but why!) The main trouble 7d of the first version was cured. 5) Ergonomics remained at the level. Everything is convenient, everything is clear, everything is at hand. 6) Video - everything for videographers, the necessary connectors, tracking auto focus, formats + settings and of course the quality is at its best.
Disadvantages:
Crop matrix - for me now is a minus (later, when a full frame will be a plus). The price is due to the growth of $ in terms of rubles. If you stay in the $ field the value is quite adequate.
Comment:
The camera is a delight for those who are not spoiled by 1dx and 1dc. It caused me. I thought for a long time between 7d mark2 and 5d mark3, I made my choice. Later I will write if I regretted it!) Almost 3 months have passed since the first review: On the pros and cons: + There is no disappointment, on the contrary, the camera does not cease to amaze: 1) its autofocus - I have never met a camera capable of holding an object despite the same type of objects appearing in front of the object of focus (For example, a basketball, a player is dribbling, other players run between the player and the shooting point, but the focus is not lost not for a second, although in fact for the camera all players are extremely similar). Autofocus in a dark room, where other cameras have not seen anything for a long time, it continues to hit the target. 2) iso - still pleasantly surprised by the high ones on the crop (to be honest, not expected against the background of other Canon crops) 3) Ergonomics - conveniently not the right word!) The camera can really be an extension of the hand. - Cons: In my opinion, the biggest drawback is only one lack of radio ignition of external puffs.
24 February 2015, Moscow
Advantages:
Convenient ergonomics, build quality, headphone jack, autofocus speed plus burst shooting speed, lots of nice little things, it's long to list.
Disadvantages:
During Full HD 50p shooting, tracking autofocus does not work, this problem was not mentioned in video reviews, for me personally this is a drawback.
Comment:
Let the matrix be noisy, all the same crop, ISO 4000 is tolerable (my personal opinion), but the lack of tracking autofocus in Full HD 50p was very disappointing, although at 25p everything works as it should!
June 24, 2015, Rostov-on-Don
Advantages:
Rate of fire - 10 fps, up to 4 fps. in "silent" mode. ISO from 100 to 16000 (auto), you can expand up to 51200. The matrix is good, the noise is not so much visible even at 6400. Dust and moisture protection. The buffer is large - 30 frames in RAW in burst mode until the buffer is full in 3 seconds. and then shoots one at a time, if you do not stop (CF flash drive). There are a lot of different settings, the camera can be customized for yourself, program buttons.
Disadvantages:
The elastic band under the thumb began to peel off gradually, but this is a trifle. Probably because of the humidity.
Comment:
Excellent machine !!! The best crop camera from Canon to date. I took it for photo hunting and for shooting events. In burst mode, the shutter speed drops from the cold, at first I thought it broke, but when it got warmer, the rate of fire improved. Machine Made in Japan. Photos can be viewed on the "Photosite" under the login EAO_79.
19 August 2017, Birobidzhan
Advantages:
1. AF: 65 really working crosses, field coverage (crop steering), AF settings allow you to work out almost even the most difficult situations when shooting sports. 3. The new processor is clearly faster than its predecessor. 4. Management - although 7d was not bad in this respect. 5.3200 workers, 6400 - conditionally workers: colors do not float, noises are twig, but detailing does not go away. 5. Hello, Vasya, I’m blown away - at last, Canon began to put two cards not only in top boxes. Hurrah!
Disadvantages:
Curve and antediluvian puff control system. Why it was impossible to insert a radio module from 5d3 is not clear; the camera is so specific that there would be no competition anyway.
Comment:
I took it before the New Year as a second camera in a bundle to 5d3 - IMHO, an ideal pair. For several months I shot with 1dx - well, there is a top, but I was not ready to carry such a brick on myself. Practically - after six months of use, I can say that I did not lose much: yes, Simeon II Markovich is not able to do something that Duks could do - but it turned out not to be fatal. The camera is o-very special - one might say, a niche one - but for this niche (sports in the first place, poultry and Co. - all the dynamics) fits perfectly.
June 14, 2015, Moscow
Advantages:
Very fast, great processor; Very sharp, excellent matrix; Very tenacious, excellent focusing system; Dust and moisture protection; Ergonomics; GPS; 50/60 fps for video was the main purchase criterion.
Disadvantages:
It would be more correct to say not shortcomings, but what is missing for the ideal: no wi-fi; no swivel screen; not touch. auto focus tracking does not work for videos with 50/60 fps. There are no complaints about the declared functions.
Comment:
The camera is very fast, you still have to manage to make one frame during continuous shooting, even a quick press leads to two positives. At the same time, the device often thinks about before displaying the captured frame on the screen. Shooting RAW + JPEG, SD card 40 mb / s, but the 650D ponders faster even with a slower card. The matrix is at a height, with the same 650D there is no comparison, just heaven and earth. The picture is clear, the colors are juicy. Excellent auto focus, it is a pity that it does not work on videos with 50/60 fps. In this context, it turns out that the 70D is in no way inferior to this model, but on the contrary, it has a rotary touch screen and Wi-Fi. So after the purchase, I even wondered if it was worth it? But when the device was tested in practice, all doubts were gone. Touch is convenient, but not the main thing, ergonomics compensates for this, Wi-Fi is added by an SD card with this function. But speed, security, GPS (built-in) and many other useful features will not appear in the 70D. And he just lies gorgeous in the hand, you immediately feel - this is the thing!
January 26, 2016, Moscow
Advantages:
A device based on speed. Speed everywhere: autofocus, dedicated joystick control of point and focus area, USB 3.0, three user modes, continuous shooting and burst size. Anti-flicker.
Disadvantages:
A bit heavy. Spot metering at center only. No wifi.
Comment:
Whether you are shooting small children, sports, birds, street photography at dusk or at night, concerts or other action is definitely the best choice. The case is unkillable, I checked it personally. The flip-up screen is only a minus like the touchscreen. If the focus has caught the target and is correctly set, it will not let go. Allows you to shoot in quick bursts those moments that cannot be repeated. Then just choose the one suitable for the phase of the movement from all the quality ones. Made good friends with sigma 17-50 2.8 and Nissin 700a flash It is possible to fine-tune autofocus for multiple lenses. Adjusts the zooms at both the long and short ends. It is possible to control a group of flashes remotely. Works great in AV and TV. It is possible to safely shift the main parameter or ISO in semi-automatic modes. The ZhPS works both in compass mode and can write tracks. But I haven't figured it out yet. There are many different video goodies. It doesn't matter to me yet. Of the shortcomings, I noted only the absence of spot exposure metering at the selected point. Central only. Otherwise, you need 1DX2. Took to replace 1100D. Of course, it makes no sense to compare it with a budget DSLR. However, I looked towards 6D and 80D. Six is a fullframe. This is where his dignity ended for me. In terms of his capabilities, he is a sluggish brake. 80D is a newer model. A flip-up screen and other household buns have already appeared. But in behavior and characteristics, he lags behind the seven everywhere. The cheapest full frame or the coolest crop? For me, the choice is obvious.
