Opinions from the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS

Advantages:
Zoom. Stabilization. The size.
Disadvantages:
No RAW. Loses focus at large zoom. Insufficient light sensitivity.
Comment:
Of course, you can't compare with a DSLR. An ordinary "soap dish" with a large zoom. RAW is sorely lacking. I like the simple operational adjustment of aperture and shutter speed. On the go. Demanding the quality and capabilities of a DSLR is ridiculous. Who bought - immediately buy a tripod. For 300 grams and a large zoom ... Or hang a bag of bricks on your hand. Maybe this will save you from post-alcoholic tremor. I bought it. At first I was disappointed. But after a hundred grams of cognac and a little training I calmed down. For every day in the pocket for "quickly got it and took it off" will do very well ... In the photo, about a kilometer to the tap. The moon is not full zoom because it does not fit into the frame. Shot hand-held without a tripod.

Advantages:
1) Televik (zoom) x40 with decent stabilization. 2) Excellent macro mode. 3) Manual focus is available. This was the third requirement when choosing.4) The power button is slightly "recessed" below the surface of the body and does not turn on due to an accidental touch in the pocket (which often happens on my Nikon Coolpix S9900). 5) Turns on quickly, although not instantly. 6) I like this arrangement of the control buttons, when the video recording button is placed on the upper edge of the case, next to the shutter button. And when shooting, you can firmly grip the camera with your palm, without fear of accidental operation of any of the buttons, especially the wireless button (which often happens on Nikon S9900). And all the buttons are not overly sensitive. They are a little tight, which is also convenient. I take pictures without taking off my gloves - the buttons are large and convex. 7) Quite compact metal body, especially smart in the silver version. 8) Subjectively, the AWB color rendition is quite adequate in different types of lighting. I am writing this because had the sad experience of distorting lilac tones to blue at AWB on an older Canon powershot, EMNIP, sx260 model.
Disadvantages:
1) It is completely unexpected that there is no "sunset" mode. How much you can do without it - we'll see. 2) The display rotates around one axis only. When shooting with hands held high, you will have to turn the camera down with the shutter button. 3) There is no GPS-receiver in the camera itself. I think this is a disadvantage, tk. for the sake of GPS, every morning you need to complete the connection procedure, and not just turn on the camera at any time. 4) It is a pity that the set does not include the power adapter that can be used to charge the battery without removing it from the camera. So far, I charge the original battery only separately. I don't want to risk it. 5) When macro, in low general illumination and without additional illumination, the flash fires too brightly (in auto mode, everything is highlighted), therefore it is useless, although it is allowed to make a correction for flash firing + - from -2 to +2. On the Nikon mentioned, the macro flash works much better.
Comment:
The camera was purchased on March 12th. I find this camera very good for such a reasonable price. There is no sunset mode, which is unusual for amateur cameras, but the AWB seems to be tuned in such a way that it does not whiten the morning and evening rays, but emphasizes the warm colors. I think it's inappropriate to compare this Canon with smartphones and DSLRs. For perfection, the built-in GPS-receiver and a rotatable 3-axis display are lacking, as in the Nikon Coolpix S9900, when during storage and carrying you can turn the display with the "blind" side outward, and press the working side (glass) against the body to protect the glass from damage ... I do not understand the degree of blurring of digital photographs and am not going to impose requirements on this amateur Canon, as to professional DSLRs. After the Soviet film "Zenith-E" I am happy to no longer carry a case with interchangeable lenses for the sake of everyday amateur filming of everything that can catch my eye. And I'm not going to compare with smartphones cameras, tk. cameraphones do not have the ultrazoom I need. Good metal control buttons without excessive sensitivity, I like their location. I think the expression "camera for travel" is apt - the whole range of focal lengths in a pocket camera. I do not believe that such stabilization of optics is achievable so that when shooting handheld at the longest focus of x40 the image does not shake. Zenith was shooting handheld at long exposures, so I appreciate the stabilization of this camera and, simply, with sufficient lighting, I take pictures at short exposures, resigning myself to the fact that the subject does not always fall into the very center of the frame. I haven't photographed the moon yet. I'm waiting for the occasion. I consider the purchase of this camera a success. For my amateur photography trips, it is quite suitable, despite the lack of built-in GPS. It is clear that for the sake of peace of mind, even for one "shooting day" you need to have more than one battery.
