I took it as a universal optical device. To the sea, to the theater, to spy on neighbors. Compared with cheaper samples - this one has very transparent optics. I am not an expert - but I feel very little loss. Cool function of variable magnification - you can have a general picture and details. The dimensions are also not very scary. Recommend.

Advantages:
Excellent workmanship and materials. The presence of variable multiplicity. Ergonomic body. Compact dimensions. Excellent visibility. Affordable price. The caps hold well on eyepieces and objectives.
Disadvantages:
Protective covers are removable, soft bag, no adjustable eyecups. A very modest strap - narrow, without an overlay (790 grams perceptibly loads the neck). Diopter adjustment only ± 1D. The zoom lever is plastic and strongly exposed, there are fears that it may break off. It would be better in the form of a ring.
Comment:
Despite the fact that the presence of zoom in binoculars is not very praised everywhere, variable magnification and price were the selection criteria. I took a chance and did not regret it. The picture at the maximum zoom is practically the same as at 8x in sunny weather, worse in cloudy weather and in the evening. Personally, my image does not shake much. Convenient to follow moving objects. And if you lean on something, then you can read all sorts of small inscriptions, this is where the zoom manifests itself. I am very pleased with the purchase. I look forward to walking to Taganay. But what about the above disadvantages? Yes, this is rather what the Olympus 8-16x40 Zoom DPS I lacks for the ideal binoculars in my understanding. I knew about them, and I do not consider them critical. Overall, excellent binoculars for their price point. I recommend to everyone.

Advantages:
High quality workmanship, there is nothing to complain about - a good thing! Comfortable to hold. Good magnification at maximum zoom. Good sharpness, image transparency, natural colors without yellowness. Dimensions and weight are not very large. Hand-friendly rubberized coating - won't slip out!
Disadvantages:
At the maximum zoom, focusing is required finer. The contrast of the image and its brightness at the maximum zoom is slightly less than at the minimum, but this is normal and is the price to pay for the high magnification using the same optics.
Comment:
First I wanted to take "KOMZ BPC2 12x45", but it was made "clumsy" and somehow rough, and the picture in the eyepieces seemed darker. I chose "Olympus 8-16x40" and have not regretted it yet. Solid and high-quality binoculars for their price - I recommend!

Great model. Very suitable for multifunctionality. And watch the concert, nature and fireworks. Compared to Bushnell, the build quality and the work of moving mechanisms are just heaven and earth. No distortions, perfect focusing, good lens enlightenment, excellent ergonomics, pleasant coating, comfortable to hold. Quite comfortable soft case. The presence of variable multiplicity at purchase was decisive. From any side, for a simple layman, the ideal binoculars for all occasions. The size and its possibilities - just in perfect balance! In short, I really like it.

Inconvenient eyecups, distortion and blurring at the edges, chromatic aberrations are quite noticeable in the bright sun.

For those who, like me, choose binoculars for the first time, I advise you to decide on the presence of a zoom. It is very unpleasant to watch from the hands with a magnification greater than x8. Yes, everything is getting much larger, but this is no longer a "picture", but a figment of your imagination, assembled from a shaking mass of elements. There is a similar model of Olympas without zoom (8x40 DPS I) with one and a half times wider field of view, lower weight and price. Perhaps due to the simpler design, it is even lighter and more reliable.

I compared it with the olympus 8x40. That one is noticeably lighter and the viewing angle is wider. But this does not have the effect of vignetting - everything is clear and clean around the edges. And it increases gorgeous! For those who like to peep from afar, I recommend taking it!)

I am not a big connoisseur of binoculars, but for myself I will probably refer to the "+": the presence of a zoom, the general ratio of characteristics to the volume and weight of binoculars.
Disadvantages:
I only disliked the fact that the lens caps are not attached to the binoculars, so each time they had to be carefully removed and folded into a case, and then the reverse procedure had to be done.
Comment:
I took binoculars with me to Greece. Walks in Athens + a week of sailing. I handled the equipment very carefully, so I can't say anything about "shock resistance" and "water resistance". In general, I liked the device. Initially, I looked closely at a more compact technique, but having tried it "by eye" I decided to be satisfied with a compromise in the form of Olympus. In compact models, the restriction on the sector of view, or the lack of zoom, was noticeably strained (although in 80% of cases I used the maximum zoom).

I bought it to observe wildlife in nature. The binoculars paid off completely! The only thing that he lacks is the ability to take pictures =) Below they wrote that it is impossible to use 16x zoom, but practice has shown that sometimes 8x may not be enough, and the opportunity to change it is very useful. But for this you really need to fix the binoculars well =) My rating is 4.7, so 4 for the covers =)
