Advantages: Very sharp even at 2.8, Geometric distortion and vignetting are virtually absent. Good stability Excellent color rendering Accurate and fast autofocus 3-position focus limiter
Disadvantages: Perhaps not. IMHO the best makrik at kenon.
Comment: In principle, everyone has already said about it :-) I emphasize that the presence of a stub is very helpful both for macro and for other genres. all the pictures below are hand-held with the stub turned on. Without a stub, this quality would not have worked ... Can be used as an excellent portrait photographer. And the fact that it is very sharp, so IMHO this is an advantage. You can always make it soft from a sharp one. But on the contrary, it's not so easy anymore))) If you look for flaws, then if you shoot insects or butterflies ... You have to understand that it is problematic to shoot close. You can scare away. In this case, the macroelka 180 mm is preferable. But her lack of a stub will add complexity. Sharpness and detail are impressive! When you can see every hair, you understand what the money was spent on. Color reproduction is great too! In general, who needs an excellent makrik - I recommend. In my opinion, it is better - not to find!

Advantages: -Build quality; -Picture quality; - Tenacious and precise focus; -Excellent stabilizer; -A light weight
Disadvantages: Have not found
Comment: Oddly enough, but I took this lens at all not for macro, but purely for portrait photography and reporting. Macro is really amazing, of course, sometimes I "dabble", but so far this is a new direction for me, requiring certain skills and experience. Numerous reviews prophesied some kind of super-sharpness, which would supposedly be bad for female portraits. Honestly, I did not notice something supernatural here. Detail is fine, but not oversaturated with sharpness. The only thing I can say right away is that portraits should be taken mainly on an open hole, from 4 onwards the photo becomes not so plastic and interesting. By the way, about 2.8 - a perfectly working diaphragm, and with a good flu, at least with a half-length portrait. When I first shot a reportage on this one hundred square meters, using the stabilizer and shooting parameters: f2.8, 1/25 ISO 400-800, I was just stupid. Yes, there are objects that move slightly and you get a blur that does not depend on you, but the stabilizer is simply incredible, it works out to 150%. Now, even where there is an opportunity to shoot with a flash, I still try to do without it and the result is excellent! If you shoot on a full frame, more outdoors and in unhurried conditions - I may have advised you Elk 135. But if you often have to shoot in difficult conditions, but you also like to photograph street portraits - do not be afraid, buy this hundred, it is completely fulfills the invested money. Photos can be viewed here: flickr.com/photos/mak_peace/ almost all recent portraits were made with this lens.

Advantages: Gives excellent results. Versatility - if desired, can be used in any genre. Good sharpness at full aperture, but with a little cover the sharpness is excellent. Autofocus switch.
Disadvantages: Expensive. Wanted an initial aperture of 2.0.
Comment: I shoot on a crop. Before that, there was a canon 60 mm 2.8 (excellent makrik for crop) - more convenient in terms of focal length, but elka is better in terms of the displayed picture. Examples of photos in the album "Canon 100 2,8 L"

Advantages: + Execution + The whole set of L'ki: moisture / dust resistance + Nimble AF + Versatility: first you shoot a spider and examine every hair, and after 5 seconds you already make a portrait with stunning detail, and no lens changes) + Pretentious red ring +100500 k ChSV
Disadvantages: Not noticed.
Comment: Awesome lens! I use it for macro photography, creating product catalogs and just shooting. On the crop (550D), of course, you can't click in full growth, but the portraits are simply Gorgeous! The stabilizer and aperture allow handheld shooting even in low light conditions. In general, praises can be sung endlessly, the verdict is the same - if you have the opportunity to purchase this lens, then take it without a shadow of a doubt!

Advantages: Excellent picture quality! Very sharp at full aperture, not much worse than the maximum quality achieved at f5.6-f8. Great for portraits! High-quality construction, dust protection, fits perfectly on the bayonet, nothing loosens.
Disadvantages: The supplied lens hood dangles slightly on the lens. Cannot be used with Extenders 1.4; 2.0 as opposed to the same 180 macro.
Comment: Wonderful Canon Glass! You can shoot both macro 1: 1 (the image of the subject on the matrix will be the same size as in real life), and portraits with a beautifully blurred background due to a 9-blade rounded diaphragm. Very fast and clear autofocus and amazing stabilizer! At normal distances, it gives 4 stops to shutter speed, and allows you to take clear handheld shots with shutter speeds up to 1/20 sec! On macro two to three stops depending on the magnification. There were several mentions about the plastic case in previous reviews - yes, I would like to see metal with a beautiful color like all L-ki. But the quality of the plastic is excellent, and most importantly, underneath the lens groups are still in a metal glass. There is almost no chromaticity (or it is not noticeable), excellent geometry and picture clarity. This is one of the best Canon prime lenses in terms of clarity across the entire aperture range used (2.8 - 16). With an average cost of 35,000 rubles, it gives an absolutely stunning picture! Highly recommend if you decide to replenish your kit with a fix for portraits! Bugs and flowers in nature can also become an object of your interest after purchasing this lens.

Advantages: -Stab allows with hands -Light weight -Universality, no matter how paradoxical it sounds! -AF is accurate and noticeably faster compared to the first 100 / 2.8. -Slag protection.
Disadvantages: The feeling that you squeeze a little harder - and it will crack =) But this is only at the level of sensations ... Black plastic is pleasant to the touch. Creates suspicions of lens fragility, however, according to comrades from Canon - this plastic belongs to the type of Engineering plastics, designed to withstand good loads.
Comment: I have been using it on 1Dsmk2 since summer 2010. What I want to note right away is the new stabilization system. I was skeptical about this system until I tried it. In short - the new system allows you to compensate for two types of vibrations at once. Corner and parallel.(angular - tilts, parallel - vertical displacement of the camera) In practice, this gives an excellent result, the lens has an angular velocity sensor that cooperates with an acceleration sensor - the tandem of two comrades allows in practice to get a gain of as much as 4 stops! Now this makrik has essentially replaced the staff - focusing speed, convenient focal point and stub give an amazing result in practice, allowing you to instantly switch from shooting beetle legs to a certain scene on the street that requires a quick reaction. With it, I really felt what a handheld night shot is. Walking around the city at night without a tripod with the ISO3200 is no longer a nightmare. With hands, you can really get sharp pictures up to 1 / 5sec. About 1 / 50-1 / 10 easily. 10 frames out of 10 I knock out sharp ones. So to all those doubting the new stub system - I inform you that this is not fiction or marketing, but a working system for mega results.

Advantages: The new Image Stabilizer in the Canon 100 f / 2.8L IS Macro really works and helps. The focus is very fast, the stub is almost silent. The bayonet is fitted very tightly, there is no backlash at all.
Disadvantages: The price of the model is clearly overpriced. IMHO, the price tag is raised almost 2 times from the previous model only due to the new stub and red stripe, with such a pricing policy, the old Canon f / 2.8 will be in demand for a very long time. The plastic body of the new Canon 100 f / 2.8L IS Macro looks rather flimsy, an inner voice tells: - Be careful with it :)
Comment: First impressions: I did not experience any special delight as a portrait lens, it is simply pointless to compare with 85L and 135L. In no case should you photograph women with this makrik, so as not to incur anger once again. How a macro lens works 100%! AF is very fast, it focuses in a split second even in low light: f / 2.8, 1/30, ISO: 640. The stabilizer helps out a lot, allowing you to shoot 1/30 - 1/60 from your hands without straining at a scale of 1: 1. The stabilizer is almost inaudible, the stab at 300 f / 4L, in comparison, is just a tractor. At 1: 1 scale, the minimum aperture values start at f / 10, otherwise the depth of field is measured in units of millimeters. I did not test the glass on the crop; on the FF it gives an amazing macro-picture. I am almost sure that on 50D and especially 7D cameras you will not be able to get the same picture as on 5D, all other things being equal at f / 10 - f / 32.

Advantages: - Sharp at F / 2.8 (!); - Excellent color rendering and contrast; - The stabilizer is very useful; - Lack of HA at F / 2.8; - Build quality: everything is neat, clear, and there is nothing to complain about; - 3 distance switches (it is very convenient and the lens focuses quickly); - Beautiful boke - in circles, not nuts; - Excellent macro (I admire); - The hood is hefty: on the one hand, you cannot put on the protective cover without removing the hood, but on the other, such a hood protects the lens well from splashes, dust, etc .; - Adequacy of the price.
Disadvantages: Very shallow depth of field at F / 2.8, both when shooting macro and distant subjects. This is not a disadvantage, but rather the design of this lens.
Comment: I took this lens on a crop (EOS 60D), as two in one: macro and telephoto. The first impression is created from the first shot. You look at the first photo taken: sharp, juicy colors, there is not even a hint of HA ... The stabilizer works wonders: you can shoot handheld for 1/20 sec. (!), And this is on the crop! (For example, my 50mm f / 1.4 and it often smears at 1/80). It's very good to shoot portraits for them. In most cases, the photographs taken by him do not need further processing. After the purchase, I reconsidered my views on the optics I use ... Canon EF 100mm f / 2.8L Macro IS USM has become the standard of quality.A lens worth the money.

Advantages: Fast, sharp, not expensive, 2.8 is quite a working hole!
Disadvantages: A bit heavy, with the native hood on - it's not realistic to put on the lid, so you can't twist the polarik either! Sometimes, when auto-refocusing, makes gloomy sounds, it seems that it is about to be covered! :) In a dark room, the focus may not be caught.
Comment: I am satisfied with the lens, the portraits are excellent, the focusing is fast and accurate, the color rendition is good. Zeiss 100/2 macro, of course, I liked better, but it costs an order of magnitude more and lacks autofocus, which is critical for many! Of course, you can't get into the eye of a fly (there is an MP-E65 for this), but the macro does excellent. The stabilizer pleased me, it allows you to shoot quite working frames at 1/25 (of course, if it's not macro). In general, I have never regretted it, I advise everyone. :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/68490501@N06/6998367411/in/photostream/lightbox/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/68490501@N06/6928075189/in/photostream/lightbox/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/68490501@N06/7055038349/in/photostream/lightbox/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/68490501@N06/6990909897/in/photostream/lightbox/

Advantages: The red stripe and the letter L speaks for itself. Sharp, convenient focal length on the crop (bumblebee wasps and similar stinging ones are obtained large, but at a safe distance), aperture and stabilizer.
Disadvantages: In principle, they are not. If you only want a tripod ring included.
Comment: This is my first macro lens. In this regard, I have nothing to compare it with. I use it on 60d for about a year. Macro is amazing. But do not expect that since there is a stabilizer, then a tripod is not needed. The stabilizer is a useful thing, but rather when you shoot non-macro scenes. The autofocus speed is slightly lower than, say, in the 24-70L, but in general it is very efficient. In the twilight, he focuses quite confidently and accurately (filmed a concert). Conveniently, there is switching by focusing distance. The lens is resistant to external factors - I shot in a rainstorm or in a blizzard, no complaints about the work. The focal length can be used as a moderate portrait telephoto lens. The picture is naturally very sharp. I will not say that it is annoying, even in a close-up portrait of a woman, rather the blurring of the background is somewhat peculiar. In conjunction with magnifying lenses, it works confidently, but the minimum focusing distance is naturally shorter. Bottom line: if you need a macro lens, then, in terms of price-quality ratio, 100mm macro L will more than meet all expectations, very good glass, without obvious disadvantages, but with a lot of advantages. Pictures can be viewed on my page, since July 2011, any that fall under this focal length and aperture (the album "Little things in life" - macro, and 08/06/11 - as a portrait).
