Good lens, took it to the mountains. This is the lightest "all-rounder", shooting panoramas, portraits and macro shots on the D5100 - all with hands. There is practically no shake - 10% of raw images, and then if brought closer to disgrace. We set a fixed aperture of 7.1-8 (mode A), ISO 100-200-350, and everything works out for you: chrome aberrations go away, the depth of sharpness is sufficient. Boke is pleasant - "not nuts". It is not necessary to diaphragm more, (if without a flicker), otherwise details will disappear. The picture is juicy even without correction in the editor, the "barrel" is not much of a substitution. You must buy a protective glass, the lens is close. It is advisable not to use extreme zoom values - 10% of the scale at the beginning and at the end - there are the most distortions

I took a Nikon 18-105mm f / 3.5-5.6G AF-S ED DX VR as a replacement and was pleasantly surprised. Tamron turned out to be much more collected, sharper and at the same time cheaper. Autofocus is quiet, focuses quickly and clearly, the only thing in low light can look for focus for a long time. Nikon focused faster, but blurred often. Because of this, many photos were rendered unusable. Tamron has a much higher percentage of sharp photos. When buying, be sure to do a back / front test, I bought only the third copy, the first two fronts. I got only positive impressions from the purchase. So take it, you won't regret it.
